I am going to school at Cal Poly Pomona and living in the dorm. Can anyone tell me where the places (open gyms or clubs) that are located near my school? I am new to this area and if anyone knows any places to play, please let me know. Thanks
Nearest to you is not far--Walnut. They have badminton at certain times in a multi-purpose gym. Schedule is at http://www.ci.walnut.ca.us/faq.asp?id=9&catid=10 Next nearest is the San Gabriel Valley Badminton Club, off the 10 freeway west of the 605.
If you have time in your schedule, Cal Poly Pomona offers badminton classes as well. Its a good way to improve on your basics and good place to play against different people. I know there is a beginners and intermediate class, but I'm not sure of the day and hours. Just as Californian said, the closest open gym to you is in Walnut, off of Grand Avenue. I don't consider it walking distance from Cal Poly Pomona, but its around a 5-10 car/bus ride there depending on traffic and stoplights.
Come to Mar Vista Mondays and Wednesday nights in West LA. Cost is $4 but feathered shuttles are free, as many as you can use! Players of all levels there. 7 - 10pm. Mar Vista Rec Center 11430 Woodbine Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90066
