It's generally assumed here that one should hold the basic forhand grip (slightly turned away from panhandle 15-20 degrees) loosely and then tighten upon impact on overhead shots.

However, I find the timing to be extremely difficult to tighten close to or exactly on impact. Now after some mishits, I found out that tightening the grip during the forward motion of my swing gives me a much more solid feel. I can actually feel the racket bending when I smash or defensive clear.

If I didn't make myself clear, here is the basic question. Should I keep my whole arm and grip loose until the exactly moment or right before the impact point and then tighten it? Or tighten my grip when I am a little after the forward motion of the swing?
