Hi, i am looking for a good all around racquet that is not too heavy, and has good maneuverbility, as well as the power for decent smashes. ( i smash alot). I play alot of doubles, but i would also like a racquet that can do well in singles as well. I am considering the Carbonex 30 muscle, since i heard good things about it. But there were also some duarability issues..what do you suggest? ( i am intermediate player btw, but im getting better fast). Thanks!

Also, i live in BC and checked some threads for the stores. Is there one near Maple Ridge? thanks again! :)

Are you sure that there is durability issue? Why I am saying this is because Carbonex rackets are usually very durable and don't have durability issue :D

I agree with Steven Master18, MP99 feels quite similar to Cab30. However, if I were to choose between them, I personally will choose Cab30. :)

I personally think a Sotx woven 10 is a nice option. though a bit tipped in favor of power over manouevrability.

    it is 680mm long (a 5mm longer than yonex's current standard) head-heavy, 89grams (a heavy 3U) and extra stiff.
Playing with it it feels powerfull and pretty manouvrable.
but then I play with a 2U version of the 10 (the woven 11)

see if you can try one out, it's a good racket, though not perfectly allrounded, but definatly a smasher;)

Jerby and Lam: key words not too heavy and good manueverability = not Woven 10, MP100 and Ti10. :p

thanks for replies guys. I think i will go for the Cab 30 seeing as it seems to be a good racquet for me. But question, it says that it is heavy headed. However, I am not much of a defense player, but i am quite well built, not a skinny guy. Does that mean I can still use the cab 30 effectively, and fast?

p.s. oh and about the durability issue, i read it somewhere in the reacquet reviews section. But i am not totally sure, since it was only 1 or 2 people saying it.

From my experience, I feel Cab30 is more like an even-balanced racket than a head heavy one. However, I am not sure whether you can use it effectively. Any chance to try it before you purchase?

Most likely not. All theplayers in my club have victor and black knight racquets. However...I am starting to find Woven 8 and 7 quite interesting :) Perhaps I will research more on those two. They seem quite my style.

MP88 is quite good for offense and defense, both singles and doubles. AT series are quite head heavy and would be harder to move. See http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12833&page=10
Nanospeed 7000 and 8000 are excellent rackets too, they're manuvreable and can do pretty good smashes.

It really boils down to your technique. Some ppl will prefer a head-heavy racket for smashing, others will prefer a light racket and use a fast swing to generate a powerful smash. Personally I think the light racket will be better because it allows you to react faster.

There are some good options with BK rackets as well, if you wanted to borrow from the players in your club to try. My top picks are C2C Shadow if you want a slightly heavy heavy 84g racket, C2C Ice if you want something slightly easier to move but just as powerful, and the SuperLight Feather if you wanted a head-light 75g racket. The SL Feather will require a fast swing and you need the right technique for it.

If you've already tried the CAB 30, and like it, you can just stick with it. Reviews are very positive for it, but I haven't tried it myself.

:p the 10 is not heavy, it's only 89grams:D and the 10 is a very welcome manoevrable. easy-to-use change from an 11.

    But you're right. again...;)

    Hi again.

Thegr8two, i looked into the C2C BK Shadow, and it looks like a good racquet for me (price wise too). Also, my style more specifically is like this. If i see a birdie in a smashing reach, I WILL smash it. It will be a 10-20% chance that i will drop it or clear. I tend to also swing very fast and agrressively, and I jump smash alot also. I focus most of my power into smashing. However, as I said, I tend to do quick, powerful smashes. Once I'm into the game too much, I might react too fast and swing out of place. Especially soemtimes i swing to fast and mess up my timing. So maybe, I should switch to heavy headed one, as it should even out my timing and make the right smash. Oh, and I'm starting to visiualize my racquet to be head heavy, even though it is balanced. :p Weird, but I think my arm is starting to tell me that I need a heavy head. Any more suggestoin? Oh, and I prefer long racquet, I tend to reach for smashes that are out of my reach by a tad bit , hehe.

    Current choices:
    Woven 7&8
    BK C2C Shadow
    BK i960 Turbo flex XL
    BAbolet Sat Comet XL

Sorry, disagree. :p But of course each person has a different perspective. :)

I feel the X1 hits a bit harder, is definitely stiffer and more stable. Regardless, the 850 is a good racket too. :D

I decided. My coach is bringign in some victor racquets for me to try. If i dont like them, Im going with the black knight PC V65. Has anybody tried that racquet? I found that i am suitable for liighter racquets as i hit very fast and hard.

Well..I agree with X1 is much stiffer than ASTEC 850.. but I don't think it's more stable! btw, how long did u play and test with the 2 rackets?? sometimes a racket is stable or not need a player who is able to control every shot. Also, you can't smash high performance with a VERY stiff racket. Sotx is ok I think...but likewise, each person has a different perspective.:D
