Tony and Candra are still so good in Mens Doubles.

Should/Would they play in the 2008 Olympics? If so, how would they qualify as they represent two different counties now, INA and USA.

This has been covered quite a few times in the past on BC, it will not happen. Dean Schoppe and Matt Fogarty are representing the U.S. in 2008.

Sigit has retired due to prolonged injury. Tony was paired with Howard Bach, but Tony is now paired with Halim to represent the USA, and Howard is playing with Bob Malaythong. Candra retired from the national team, but Tony wanted to play a little more with Candra and they paired up and played in tournaments that they had the time and permission to play in. Sigit paired with Flandy Limpele when Candra retired, but now that Sigit has also retired Flandy is playing mixed with Vita Marissa. Luckily, it seems like Tony and Candra might be playing in a few more tournaments next year.

I do hope so. Tony G with halim or candra are already legend status in my book. If Tony G/halim H win the 2008 gold, Tony G will be undisputed all time great MD player.

Already he is an regarded by many of his peers as the greatest MD player of ALL time, it'd be nice if he won another gold in 2008 though :D

Yes, they both still train actively, but separately..

Tony is currently competing and sparring in the Denmark's league. You can read in this link for the news/report:
    http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35259
He's doing so in order to keep his playing skill sharp, unlike in the U.S., where he's basically coaching. Candra, on the other hand, i believe is training/playing back home in his previous club.
I think that's one of the reason, why Tony went overseas to Denmark, in order for him to keep up and play with Candra whenever they play together.

On that note, i hope they'll be able to enter/compete in all of the Super Series events next yr. But the 1 event i want them to appear in, is the World Championship in Malaysia next yr. I believe, that's the only title that's missing from both players' resumes(they've gotten the AE and Olympic Gold already)..;)

Your wording is not precise here... Tony has two WCs and Candra has one. But you are right, they should get one WC together as a pair before they quit pro badminton... :)

    Yah & thanks for rectifying..

..yes, that is correct..:p ..thanks for putting it in the right wording:meant to say, both of them as a pair(hmm, i thought something didn't sound right when i finished typing & see this is what happens after another round of "Why Taufik lost" thread)..hehe;):p:D

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement as Tony has won the majors with multiple partners: Halim, Candra and Howard. Who else can say that or has done that?

Everytime Tony steps on the court, he's in control. He controls the net as a result, the game. That makes him and his partner extremely hard to beat. :)

Of course, there can be an argument for who is the best men's doubles pair but a singular MD Player, it's gotta be Tony.

I just wonder what would have happened if Tony and Kim Dong Moon teamed-up, during their prime. :p :D :D :D

Can they pair to compete in OG? Guess there will be some trouble, but hope not.

Anyone know what racket is Tony using now ? NS9000S or X? Switched from MP100, I think he will choose X. IMO, X plays pretty much like mp100.
