Re: RUMOR MILL: THE WORD IS OUT... MAGNESIUM
Guys,
The best way to find out is ask mark(Winex Uk) as to whether it is true or not.
I am very sure that winex might be producing magnesium rackets of their own by now if it is true that Yonex is manufacturing magnesium rackets.
So let us wait for the verdict.

Re: RUMOR MILL: THE WORD IS OUT... MAGNESIUM
i don't doubt clone leader like winex, yang yang, fleet, etc are all aware of yonex's next new trick. Mg alloys are not some new hot exotic material. Maybe yonex has a way to blend Mg alloys with graphite to make it special enough for their marketing dept to exploit on
Mg alloys have similar strength as Al alloys but about 50% lighter. Don't know why bike manufacturers still focusing on Al frame bike. Maybe brett could comment on this. Mg is just a tad more expensive than Al.

Re: RUMOR MILL: THE WORD IS OUT... MAGNESIUM
pure mg is more expensive then Al...and also, Al is stiffer. magnesium by itself is a very soft metal. bike manufacturers use Al because they are able to double or triple, or even quadruple butt the frames. if you did that to magnesium, i doubt it would hold or last long.

if i remember correctly, tungsten is supposed to be heavy!!!

Old News - A Magnessium racket already exists!!!!
Hi guys,
Just to let you know that when it comes to racket design Yonnex and Carlton (the two biggest names) are somewhat behind the times. A magnessium racket already exists. Its made by a British company called Monsoon. Go to www.centralsports.co.uk, browse the catalogue and look for rackets made by Monsoon. Best of all is the price - Onlt £60 (UK pounds)!!!!
I tend to find that Yonnex & Carlton overprice there rackets massivly. What does everyone else think???
