I recently painted some Yonex logos onto the strings of 3 of my rackets. So far i don't find it to have affected the performance of the strings. But the guy at the shop says it dries it up quickly. Does the paint (stencil ink) affect the strings in anyway? Life span? performance? anything? thanx
I thing i would agree with the store guy from a personal experience.I thought that the strings did not play as well as they used to after such paintings. I tried this on my Ti 10 and i have henceforth told my friend not to do it on any of my rackets. I think the ink that we might use might not be of great quality. If there are different grades of ink then we should explore more and find out and use the best one. But i dont see spending so much for sponsoring some brand which fleeces us. I am not going to do free advertisong neither am i so brand consious. Yonex is not a status Symbol! i dont want that too happen either.
Why do u want to decorate the string any way??? If ur playing well presently, wut's the point of spending money to ruin ur form???
Well, i'm not sure if it really "ruins [my] form" but i would say that it does shorten the life span. I just broke some strings today that i hadn't even used for more than 2 sessions.......
Just borrowed a yonex stencil and ink from a friend. Tried to seach for some definite answers in the forum but could not get any. Please can anyone help before I start experimenting
If you play on a regular base, the string should snap long before the chemicals get into any noticeable impact.
LB - hehe true, especially someone who's black, white and furry on the forum who goes through strings like tissue! Anyway, to add to my previous post, if you can get hold of plastic model paints, i.e. Citadel water soluble acrylice model paints (from Games Workshop who make the Warhammer Games), those should be safe(r) to use to stencil logos on strings.
