A few people asked me to post a video of me stringing a racket (I don't know why, it's boring to watch). Sorry if I wasn't more entertaining, I was still half asleep when I filmed this. Pre-Stringing (207MB): http://www.sendspace.com/file/at406g Stringing (244MB): http://www.sendspace.com/file/ta4x58 Total Time: ~24 minutes.
wow i downloaded this for no reason but to tell u the truth i have never seen someone string a badminton racket b4, it was interesting, if i was employed/afford a stringing machine i would do it myself, it gives ur racket more...like soul maybe, stringing your own racket, i guess a certant satisfaction after finishing. good job
wow wow..........thanks a lot for this. Very much needed this at the moment and I can learn how Dink string his racket. I heard that it is one piece and have some special tricks as well. I will also comment on it after view the demo.
wow super fast stringing.... (1st badminton raquet being strung i've seen but seen tennis...) and no wonder you break so many raquets and strings..... (won't say why)
look at your arms..... so much muscle (and technique) it's scary...... and nothing wrong with strining process i guess compared to tennis ones (and i am very sorry if i have offended you)
Dink, just finished watching the videos and it is certainly a very impressive and fast stringing job under half an hour. How many racket have you strung so far to get this quick? Just a couple of questions here. Why don't you start with the flying clamp at the middle main strings rather than the fixed clamp? Why don't you tied the 1st knot after you finish the last main string? Is there a reason why you only tied the knot after tensioning a couple of cross strings? Also, what kind of knot you are using? double hitch knot?
No offense at all, it was cold in my office, 65F, so I had to warm-up somehow, stringing a racket is a pretty good way.
Dear Sir DinkeALot, Did you mention that they can now convert your video on to the video iPod and view it while they string? Also. Have you consider upload it to YourTub to see how many hits you will get? You never know, whith your good look and charm, you might become an international star... Good night and sweet dream.
Errrr, not sure how many rackets I've strung but I am certain not as many as PeteLSD. Answers to some good questions you posed: +I don't need a fly clamp, I have two fixed clamps. +I don't tie the 1st knot until I get both sides of the mains done and the first two cross strings. Then I add +10% to the string tension (~3lbs.) and pull the final string to tie the first knot. I add the 10% to account for tension loss. Then I proceed to the third cross. This way, I don't need to change the string tension back and forth; also, sometimes, the first cross sometimes gets crossed over with the mains so this is a good way to avoid that. +On tie-offs, I use a single full hitch, 2, 3 or even 4 times. Why? I have noticed, using a single full hitch, I have better control of the string, I can pull the knot tighter, minimizing tension loss and not breaking/damaging the string in the process. With the other methods, such as a double half hitch, starting knot, and Parnell Knot, I do not have as much success. I usually damage the string or don't get a good taunt knot. I know PeteLSD came up with a hybrid knot using safety pins to minimize string abrasion. I have yet to ask Peter how he does his knot but I'm confident it's the best solution while my way is good too but a bit slow. Hope this helps.
Hello Sir Silent Heart, I don't know much about iPods other then they are very handy and cool. A few others said the same thing about ULing to YouTube. I may do another video and compress it to less than 100MB and UL it. Also will make the video more professional and funnier.
aha, it's about time someone did this. 24 mins is amazingly quick, most of my friends take at least 45 mins.
Dan has much more experience than me . My stringing experience is limted to 2-piece string jobs at the moment due to the limitation of the machine. The single half-hitch knot followed by the Parnell knot (pro knot) works wonderfully for tying off the main and cross strings. Lately, I have stopped using the hybrid method. Instead of pins, I just use take the 2 main tie-off strings to the tensioner. Like the hybrid method, the details are best explained by photographs and videos! I will post more information once I am less busy. BTW, over tension of more than 10% works even better. On most racquets it's actually safe to over tension by 20% or more for the tie off.
Thanks, that was with a completely new and unfamiliar racket, a Trump NanoWood Tech, I never strung it before. Maybe next time, I'll string a familiar racket like a Woven 7 and I'll go fast, I'm sure I can do it in under 20 minutes. But I guess that's defeating the purpose, the best string job is a moderate pace with accuracy. I figure that usually takes 30-45 minutes.
Good call. I have noticed even with a 3lbs. increase on the main tie-off, sometimes it's still a tad bit looser then other main string. Maybe I'll go with a 4lbs. difference now.
