does any of u guys get back pain like along the spine after a hard session of badminton? i get it on like one spot in my middle back along spine.
I used to have that in my younger days. Until someone told me that it will help if you make sure you are well behind the shuttlecock and moving slightly forward with my clears and smashes. Since then the pain went away.
yah, its kinda hard to do that in singles lol. but i saw a doctor and he said one of the peices of my back is looser then the ones above and below it so alot of strain is put on it. when i stand at work for longer then 30 minutes it starts to hurt, when i walk shopping for too long it will start hurt. i dunno wt is wrong, physio tell me to do the excersise he tell me to do, but i ahve been doing but nothign improve been seeing him for atleast 2 months now. he say next time we have to take XRAY!....i dont want to it be too big of problem cuz i wanna keep on playing badminton :crying:
Improper posture and bad technique would ruin your back. If it's relatively recent, you might wanna get a coach to correct your technique. If it's been ongoing, there might be something more serious. Get a referal from your family doctor and consult a sports doctor.
Hi, Having had a herniated disc surgery, I stoped playing for over 10 yrs. Then I started playing last september, but reinjured my back again...actually it was the scar from my surgery that's sticking on to my nerve root that's causing the problem. I had to do nerve separation exercises...after 10 months, I still have just a little bit of pain...barely actually, but I keep doing stretches, physio exercises etc...just be patient...I am not recommending continue badminton play, but when when my doctor said, i may never be able to play again, i decided to play anyway...butt very carefully...i don't dive for shots, i play very defensively, which is good as my defensive skill improved...but after a while, I noticed the pain was slowly going away.... so my advice it so see a sports doctor first, and see if he can send you to get an MRI which will most likely positively show what the problem is...I am assuming, you have a protruding disc as well (disclaimer: I am not a doctor), I had the same problem like you, standing too long or walking too long hurts. It still hurts me now but only if i walk for like 3-4 hours...Just keep doing those physio exercises, expecially the stomcah and back stregthening exercises...and yes, make sure you have correct posture when you are sitting and standing. good luck bchaiyow
oh yeah and when i just stand normally, and lean back along the spine rite in the centre their is a spot that hurts. when i stand up and lean back. did u get that?
my herniated disc was at bottom left...so that's where it hurts....and when it hurts, i have to bend my back forward...like a baby position (forgot the name of this posture)...then stragithen up again, and i would feel better, but nothing beats lying down... dont worry, just make sure you see a sports doctor right away...and keep doing physio (as long as it doesnt hurt). bchaiyow
lol nice picture is that u? hahaha ic so it made it better when u leaned forward? but did ur back hurt when leaned back? cuz thats what i am feeling rite now even if i dont play badminton when i lean back it hurts.
I currently have a back pain too...But i am quick on my feet as well as reactions so i get behind the birdy most of the times and step forward for power shots. However...i think it was that comfy leather chair that made my back hurt...hmm...
Yes, fetal position, that's it...gr8 pic too, better than describing with words... yup leaning forward definitely helps. When the pain is there, yes leaning back hurts as well. When I first had the herniated disc over 10 yrs ago, it hurt all the time...24hrs a day, pain goes down the legs to foot, and I cannot walk properly since my whole leg was tightened up due to injury. If you don't feel pain down your legs, I think it's still ok, but definitely needs some form of physio, and I know it's hard..time off from badminton. bchaiyow
icic. no pain in my legs, they ask me that at physio! so i gues ill work hard on myexcersise! thanks for all the help
I have ongoing back pain - though it gets much worse when i lay on my leather couch too much. I've got orthotics now, which have helped with posture I am alos doing a new core regiments that is to stengthen my lower back - it targets both front side and back. The other is to not sit in my chair for too long.
