I thought that you could already do this, when you receive an email? Was this feature taken away?

You can when you receive an e-mail. But what if you delete the e-mail or don't opt to receive instant updates, etc... It's just a nice feature to have since the Subscribe Thread option is there, why not have Unsubscribe?

If you delete the email, and you are not receiving further emails, then what harm is there in being subscribed to it?

Nope, if I delete the e-mail and someone posts on the thread again, I receive another e-mail (instant e-mail notification).

My request is why not add an unsubscribe function if you have a subscribe function in the Thread Tools? I feel it just makes things easier...unless it's a pain to program. If so, then I withdraw my request. :)

I think another way is to go to 'User CP' and unsubscribe it there.
That's what I always do anyway.:)
It would be easier if we could unsubscribe to a thread from 'Thread Tools' though

It is not a matter of whether it does not do any harm or not, but an added feature is always convenient for the users... I thought that was more important....

And that was my whole point :)

When you get the next email (say for example you accidentally deleted the other email) you have the option to subscribe then.

AFAIK that is the only option for unsubscribing.

There is another way to unsubscribe or delete subscriptions.

    1) Click on "User CP" icon near the very top of the page
    2) Click "List Subscription" near the bottol left column
    3) Check the box corresponding to the thread which you want to edit the subscription
    4) In the drop box "Select Thread", select "Delete Subscription"
    5) Click "Go"

You can also change the subscription option too if you like.

I know there are other ways of unsubscribing. That is not my point. I simply want an unsubscribe option add to the Thread Tools, that is all.

To the Admin: if adding is not convenient, please just say so and I will be done with it. In fact, it's OK if you don't, I didn't know it would be this hard to get an answer.;)

To the BC Members: please stop coming up with other ways and suggestions to delete subscriptions, I know them. I again, simply am requesting one specific thing and receiving alternatives I know about this is not my request. You guys are making things way too hard. :p

DinkAlot: I understand that you wanted the unsubscribe feature to be added. My reply wasn't referring to you but was for jamesd20 because he said "AFAIK that is the only option for unsubscribing" and I wanted to tell him that's not true. Sorry for misleading you.

Dinkalot: I apologise for telling you what you already knew.

Zasboy: thanks, you learn something new everyday.

In answer to your actual query. Only Kwun or other people familiar with the soft ware programme can say whether it is possible to add this or not. But only Kwun can actually do it (AFAIK-which is not a lot!):)

I have a better question. Why do I receive e-mails every time I post in a thread? Can I disable the whole e-mail system so I can check on my own when a reply is present? I just realized that if I post in 50 topics I will receive 50 e-mails telling me somebody has replied, or either I have to hit 50 times unsubscribe.

A Bit Here, A Bit There

You receive the emails because that's the default setting in your Control Panel.

To change it, go to User CP > Edit Options

Under 'Messaging & Notifications', go to Default Thread Subscription Mode.
From its pulldown menu, you can choose either 'Do Not Subscribe' or 'No Email Notification'.

In the first setting, your List of Subscribed Threads doesn't get populated ever again. In the second setting, your list continues to build but you don't get notified by email ever again.

After you've made your choice, remember to click on 'Save Changes'.

    However, this effect is prospective.
To change what's already on, see below.
    Yes, you can.

Go to User CP > List Subscriptions
For each thread, the 'Notification' column will tell you if you are subscribed to email notices or not. It will show 'None', 'Instant', 'Weekly', etc. If it's 'None', obviously you aren't getting any email notices.

If you still want to unsubscribe to all threads, check the box next to 'Notifications' and scroll down to the pulldown menu below the list.

Choose 'Delete Subscription', click on 'Go'... and you're done :)
You get according to what your default settings were when you signed up.
Every member has the User CP (Control Panel)... make use of it, please ;)

    Just to add..

..as far as i know, you can do it 3 ways (Oldhand already described one of them). Hope these'll help:

    The other ways:

    2. Go to "Thread Tools" (near top) - click on "Subscribe to this thread"- no instant email notification..
it's hidden but when you click 'Notification Type' you can choose no/daily/weekly/monthly

    3. You can unsubscribe from a thread from your email notification. See pic below
Click on any unsubscribe link, under the "Unsubscription information".

Yes, but these two methods allow you to unsubscribe only one thread at a time.
What I set out (the second part) allows you to delete your subscriptions in one pass :)
