    The draws are out.

Looking at the draws, Team INA has a realistic chance of grabbing gold in the mixed doubless, considering that the top 2 seeds are Kristof Hopp/Birgit Overzier and Ingo Kindervater/Katrin Piotrowski. Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa will be looking to add the Dutch Open gold to their title collection. They are likely to meet the top seed Hopp/Overzier in the QF. Devin Lahardi/Yunita Tetty are yet again drawn to meet the 3/4 seed David Lindley/Suzanne Rayappan. If they can beat the English pair, they should progress to at least the QF.

Rani Mundiasti/Endang Nur Sugianti also have a good chance of going all the way again but they have to beat Joanne Nicholas/Natalie Munt in the first round. The top seed is Petya Nedeltcheva/Diana Dimova.

In the MD, Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi face a tricky opening tie in David Lindley/Chris Langridge. The English pair has beaten Luluk/Alvent and give Fairuz/Lin a tough time yesterday. If they can beat the English pair, the 3/4 seed Mihail Popov/Svetoslav Stoyanov should await them in the next round. If they beat the French pair, the most likely opponent in the QF is Mohd Fairuzuzuan Mohd Tazari/Lin Woon Fooi. So, it will be a very good achievement if they can go all the way in this tournament. QF will be a realistic target. INA also includes Flandy Limpele/Devin Lahardi in the MD, but, they will also face a tough opening tie against Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock.

As for the Djarum pair Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian, they should stroll to at least the quarter-final where the top seed Anthony Clark/Robert Blair will await them.

i think malaysia will take two title, first the MS the chance for WCH to grab the title and second from fairuz/lin in MD

in XD definitly will go to flandy/Vita meanwhile for ws pi hongyan and xu huaiwen will be the strong candidate to the title but i hope maria and nana can make a little miracle

Fairuz/Lin have been withdrawn from the Dutch Open 2006 as expected.

    Quote from the Star:

It turned out to be their last chance for a title before the Doha Games. National doubles coach Rexy Mainaky said yesterday that he has decided to withdraw the pair from the Dutch Open starting next week. Fairuzizuan-Woon Fui are to be the second seeds at the tournament. “On second thoughts, I am asking them to come back (to Malaysia) after this. If they are to stay in Europe, they will not have spent enough time on training. They are going to be the first ranked pair for Malaysia and I want them to brush up on their weaknesses,” said Rexy.

Oooh I so hate this..why do they care to sign the couple in, to withdraw them as easy as that?!? If you sing in you gotta play, unless injured or not feeling ok. People buy tickets to see them play for crying out loud.

I agreed and the excuse was Rexy wanted these kids to have more time to train for the Asian Games which I think is weak excuse. This is a good test for this pair in terms of confidence and maturity as they are ranked #2 for Dutch Open. I love Rexy and admire him for bringing up so many good pairs but his decision lately has certainly cast some doubts and last minute withdrawal of the MD pair is one of the big question mark(I am sure he wants to punish this pair for not winning the Danish Open but I think this pair still need a lot of exposure and Dutch Open is one of the tournament to polish them up). And is true, fan buy ticket to see top players performing and withdrawal in any tournament without valid excuse is just not fair to the fan.

Maybe Rexy has identified some technical weaknesses in Tazari/Lin that cannot be addressed in a match environment?

Fairuz / Lin aren't going... flew back to MAS directly after DO. (I think today)

The rest of the players are in NED already...

For MD: Go OSH/TBS!!! Go EH/RS!!! *ha

nana has the worst draw here... she suppose to meet yao jie in quaterfinal...
as for firdasari has lighter task against petra overzier in QF, and maria kristin could meet anna rice if shebeat rachel van cutsen in the first round....
the main challange in this title will be yao jie and judith
