Hey guys, just a question here. If you could choose from the AT 700, or 500, which would you choose? I have come across some facts that the 500 is much more well balanced, while the AT 700 has more power. so, which do you choose? (i might buy one or the other.)
It depends on you, to see which one gives u better performance. Like you stated, AT500 is more balanced, which is a bit more forgiving. AT700 does give more power, but if only you can generate enough swing speed, and have enough stamina to swing like that for a reasonable long period of time. Better demo both rackets before purchase.
well, the at500 is already pretty head-heavy..but the at700 even more...so it's really up to you... what rackets have you played with in the past? if you played with a ti-10, or mp100, and liked them, I'd say the at700 should suit you fine... though generally, I think the at500 is a much safer bet.. Spoke with a bloke 2 weeks ago. had both, hated the at700...he said it was much too slow for him, and he actually hit just as hard with the at500... In the end, it's what you're capable of that matters
Well, previously, i've only had 2 other racquets. My first was an ISO 30 VF, that was about 2-3 years ago Then about a year ago, i got a NS 8000. It was working well, but i found it too head light, in which i felt i had no power. Just a couple of days ago though, i had a clash with my friend. D: so yea, i'm finding this as a chance to try out some new racquets. Either way, i might just end up getting another NS if i don't like the feel of the AT's.
The 700 packs the 'oomph' for you, but the 500 needs you to put more 'oomph' in to get some more 'oomph' out. Depends on the weight too, 700 3u and 4u are TOTALLY different (to me at least). The 500 is a good safe racket, usually can't go wrong with it.
im using an Armortec 300 now, and i got some spare to upgrade it to an armortec 500 or 700.... which one shld i buy, d 500 or 700? im an average (well, better) player.... and im an attacking player....
AT700 or AT500 I've used AT700 before but not AT500. If you're playing mainly doubles, DON'T get the AT700 because it is too slow. The racket is light when held but it feels heavy when you swings it as if it has a lot of resistance thr' the air (some say it feels like swinging with a rock at the end of the shaft). It's not worth trading overall speed for that little extra power in double games.
i have an AT700... at first you will really feel its head-heaviness... but after hours of play, you will not anymore feel the heavines... your smashes, clears and drives will be more powerful... just ask lin dan, taufik and peter gade...
I believe you should consider the flex of these two. AT700 is ultra stiff and some people cannot get use to it because as mentioned, you need to generate quite a few bit of speed to maximise it's performance. The AT500 has more flex but to some faster swingers, may find it difficult to control. A good yardstick is to compare what your current preference is to your next purchase
Well, i ended up buying the AT 500. I went and felt the AT 700, and didn't like the feel at all. Really head heavy, yet the overall structure was really light. A problem with my AT 500, is that yes, i find it a little bit more "Fragile", but i find the sweet spot more often and my power/control has greatly increased. Took a while to get used too, but after a couple of days and hours, it's fairly easy to get used too. One set back i noticed was AFTER playing. My arm was killing me, sore muscles. I'm going to guess that this goes away after a while. mhmm.
i've tried both of these rackets. I can tell you right off the bat that not everyone is meant to use the AT 700. AT 700 is crazy with its head heavyness and stiffness. I thought it was a great racket but it was wayyy too slow for me. Smash recovery and defence was horrible for me. My partner actually hurt his arm using that racket. AT 500 is a bleh racket. I didn't think it was bad but I didnt' think it was great either. I don't really recommend it to you because for 150-180, I feel you can get better rackets. Or if money is not a problem, perhaps you ought to explore some more rackets or even other brands.
not to be offensive but at500 made your arm sore..... thats just depressing, i am an armortec fan and i find that at700 is hella CRAZY and btw when u said you felt the racquet did you just hold it? because playing and holding is completely different. anyways i have both the at500 and 700 which i got recently and i have played with it once or twice since then, too busy to play T.T but with those 1 or 2 times, i found the at700 to be very powerful, overwhelming O.O when people say you lose "alot" of defense with the 700 thats a lie! i still could block smashes relatively well compared to my at500's performance. Well IMO you should buy an at700 =p
AT700 3U was really slow for me, clears were hard to follow through on...So I got a 4U and have loved it ever since. Nothing else performs better for me...although I might try some more racquets
AT700 4UG5 wicked in both single and double. although for double is a bit slow....I'm loving it more and more since I can't get a decent play out of my BKi920 (one of the top end BK) lately. I'm endorsing AT700 4 sho'.
I've been wielding my AT 700 4U for less than 2 months now. You really feel the power that you can generate on your smashes and the effortless when clearing. The down side is that defense sure go down abit for me as this is my 1st time having a head heavy racquet. I'm so hyped when I 1st used it and after that night, my arm especially wrist sore alot. I won't regret having this beast as my new "pet" but I do need more practise and time to tame it.
imo, at700 is the pitbull of racquet. it's tame enough at times and it'll snarl at other, and it may bit the owner too.
Defense does not go down...... So far everyone is saying that using the at-700 your defense goes down, but I don't think thats the case, if your defense really suffers from just using a head heavy racquet. You should start practicing more defense or something because I really don't think a racquet should affect your performance that drastically. And also I do have an at-700, at-500, and ns7000 and theres not much difference in them (okay yeah, they feel differently, weight, etc. but its not that bad to change through them), probably the most contributing factor to my game is the strings. So yeah if your defence does go down, don't blame the racquet, its telling you to practice more defence then..
