I'll just read in a chinese newspaper, it state that LWW & CTF will not represent Malaysia to play in Doha, it is because of their weak performance recently. They will be replace by Lin Woon Fui & Mohn Tazari Mohd Fairuzizuan, this is also a chance for this young pair to earn more experience. Apart from this KKK & TBH will be another Malaysia's pair to play in Doha. CCM had loss the chance, it is because he not yet recover to his condition or his past performance. Can anyone provide anything about men single? I only know that LCW has aready get back to his training and coach also satisfy with WCH's latest performance. Is it mean that both of them is in the list? How About KBH or Hafiz? If there any mistake, plz correct it for me.
Good to hear that BAM continues to make effort and willing to make controversial moves. However, I remain pessimistic.....Mal players are unbeatable in the early rounds but vulnerable to even an amateur in the semi finals or finals.
i don't think WCH is gonna go to DOHA.....and this is already quite old news....but WCH has had a quick recovery and is doing quite well already at his 1st tournament last week....hope he can win the dutch open
i would like to ask a question though..dunno under which thread should i post.. i wanna ask..the Asian Games... it's held once in every 4 years??like the olympic?? and where's DOHA?? in which country??thanks for answering!!
DOHA is the capital of Qatar, a small, oil-rich Arab nation in the Middle East.QATAR shares a common border with Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Juts out like an appendix on the eastern side of the Middle East.
but that link didnt really mention bout the AG.. mmm..i mean it is being held every 4 years or what??
Badminton: Inexperience not an excuse 10 Nov 2006 K.M. Boopathy --------------------------------------------------------------------------THE Asian Games men’s badminton squad will have all but Roslin Hashim and Hafiz Hashim making their debut but that is not an escape clause should they fail to win at least three silver in Doha. The National Sports Council (NSC) revised the one-gold target in badminton to three silver after three members of the Doha 2006 programme — Choong Tan Fook, Lee Wan Wah and Chan Chong Ming — suffered a loss of form. They were replaced by Lin Woon Fui, Fairuzizuan Tazari and Tan Boon Heong who are all making their debut. The other newcomers are Lee Chong Wei, Kuan Beng Hong and Koo Kien Keat. But chief coach Yap Kim Hock stressed inexperience will not be an excuse if Malaysia do not achieve the target. Kim Hock even said the BA of Malaysia’s initial target of one gold still stands as the players will go all out to end a 36-year-old gold drought. "Except for Roslin, 30, we have a squad who are aged below 25 and most are playing in their first Games. However, inexperience will not be an excuse at all. In fact there will be no excuses if we fail," said Kim Hock. "I always want to take the positive and as far as I’m concerned, the ones going to Doha are our best players at the moment." " "Kim Hock said the players were relieved that the official target of one gold has been revised to three silver but that did not mean they had given up on winning their first gold since 1970. Malaysia won three gold medals in the 1970 Bangkok Asian Games. Punch Gunalan won the men’s singles gold and partnered Ng Boon Bee for the doubles gold. Boon Bee also partnered Sylvia Ng for the mixed doubles gold. The marked improvement shown by the Malaysians earlier this year gave some hope but their below par performances in the World Championships in Madrid in September raised doubts. Malaysia had targeted the men’s doubles title and were also hopeful of good performances in the men’s singles, but ended up with nothing. Also suffering a slump in form were veteran pair Tan Fook-Wan Wah and Chong Wei. This prompted doubles coach Rexy Mainaky to drop Tan Fook-Wan Wah and give Woon Fui-Fairuzizuan a chance while Chong Ming also had to give way to 19-year-old Boon Heong. Malaysia’s preparations suffered a further shock when Chong Wei was hurt in a road accident last week but he has since recovered. "On paper, the three silver should come from men’s singles, men’s doubles and the men’s team," said Kim Hock. "The players must assume responsibility. Minor issues like Chong Wei’s accident should not arise at all as he is targeted to achieve silver." The last time Malaysia won silver was in Hiroshima 12 years ago through Cheah Soon Kit-Soo Beng Kiang.
that's crap, i think LTS should be given the chance rather than KBH. i wonder how many chances BAM will continue to give KBH before finally realising that they're making a mistake with him.

Badminton: BAM’s recipe for disaster 23 Nov 2006 K.M. Boopathy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FORMER Asian Games champion Sylvia Ng has some very sound advice for the Badminton Association of Malaysia — focusing on minimum events brings maximum success — and also cautioned not to overload the players in Doha. Sylvia, who won the mixed doubles gold with Ng Boon Bee in 1970, gave this advice following BAM’s strategy to allow four of their doubles players — Koo Kien Keat, Fairuzizuan Tazari, Wong Pei Tty and Joanne Quay — to compete in three events each over 10 days when the badminton competition begins in Doha on Nov 30. Besides the men’s team event, Kien Keat will partner Tan Boon Heong in the men’s doubles and then team up with Joanne in the mixed doubles. Fairuzizuan will also have extra duties with Lin Woon Fui in the team and men’s doubles, and partner Pei Tty in the mixed doubles. Pei Tty and Joanne, the key members of the women’s team, will partner Chin Eei Hui and Lim Pek Siah respectively in the women’s doubles. The fact that Kien Keat-Joanne and Fairuzizuan-Pei Tty will be playing as pairs for the first time in the mixed doubles and do not have a ghost of a chance to secure a medal, has surprised Sylvia, who feels the additional event for them will affect their focus. "It has always been fact that we have never concentrated on the mixed doubles and it is difficult for them to win a medal. I don’t know the rational behind their inclusion in the event," said a mystified Sylvia. "The current coaches were all former internationals and they should know better. "Other countries have specialist players who are focused in just one event and this eases the burden on them. "We have a better chance in the men’s doubles for medals while the women’s doubles can also spring a surprise. These are the events, together with a team event, they should be aiming for. "They should be focused in the events where they can win medals. If not, their overall performances will be affected and the more realistic medal opportunities might slip away." Chief coach Yap Kim Hock still hopes for a medal from Kien Keat-Joanne although they must overcome World No 4 Xie Zhongbo-Zhang Yawen of China in the last eight. "I believe Malaysia have a good draw in the mixed doubles and they have a fighting chance to clinch a medal," said Kim Hock. "We should try to win as many medals as possible and the mixed doubles definitely gives us more options." However, men’s doubles coach Rexy Mainaky feels Woon Fui-Fairuzizuan or Kien Keat-Boon Heong could still win the gold, while women’s doubles coach Cheah Soon Kit is banking on Pei Tty-Eei Hui to return with a medal. However, the involvement of Kien Keat, Fairuzizuan and Pei Tty in the mixed doubles may spoil everything.
too bad, LWW/CTF is not going to DOHA, and the MD will be the mas' weak link , both mas MD are not impresseive (sorry) and its 2 bad again, KKK is not pairing with CCM in DOHA
yeah right..as if any new pair MAS paired up u'd think it's not strong...but they were paired up based on their performance, weren't they?? as if INA team is super strong... we'll see when AG comes...
