I've been following your thread for badminton in Kansas City area and I'm really interested in finding out more information. Do guest need a gym member to be able to play and what are the fees to play in the KU campus? What are the average skill levels? Is there coaching available? Is there a great amount of people that turn up to play badminton based on the scheduled court hours? I'm looking forward to hearing your response. Thanks!

Yonex Mavis 2000 (nylon); Feather rarely because of expense
You can swing by one of these days to check it out. Generally, the front-desk has been very good at allowing newcomers to play a session or two before deciding on a membership. Although the club offers all kinds of amenities, some of us who visit only for badminton were offered reduced rates without any contract (although we're still allowed to use all the features). You will be asked to contact the Manager (Laura) for specifics.
We skip Saturdays if there is going to be a low turnout but otherwise play every Friday & Sunday. In general, most of us are at an intermediate-level. If you want to play twice or thrice every week (7+ hours) at a convenient OP location, you may want to try this out.

Is there a badminton club @ WSU Heskett Center? When does it meet?

Badminton in Overland Park [UPDATE]
1. Since the new year, the club has started to disallow walk-in guests without a guest pass; they charge a $15 fee now.
2. We've switched to playing with feathers for a couple of months now.

Question about Badminton in Overland Park. I will be in Kansas City for the week, so I called Overland Park, but the lady said that there was no group playing badminton on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays like mentioned in the previous threads. Please email me at email@example.com and let me know. And if there is no badminton at Overland Park, are there any other locations in the area where I can play? Thanks!

There is no formal badminton club at WSU Heskett Center, however, we do meet up every Friday at around 5.30pm until 8 or 9pm......the badminton activity at WSU is quite active, please let us know if you are interested to meet up when you have a chance......

Hi everyone, I am doing a one-month rotation in Kansas City. I am so craving for playing badminton. I am living close to UMKC, but I'm flexible to play anywhere in the vicinity. I checked overland park and was told there are regular players there, but I don't know how to meet them or other players in UMKC. The UMKC badminton group is no longer present. I am wondering how to get touch with other players. Can anyone email me for a meetup at your regular playing days and time? My email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!!!

Sorry I mean the UMKC badminton mailing list doesn't seem to work. I requested to join it but was turned down by google.
