My friend bought me this Pacific BP66 string from Singapore. I think not many people here using this string as it seems not very popular. Anyone know the performance of this string? I have some pictures here to show you the specs etc. Brand : Pacific Model : BP66 Type : Synthetic Gauge : 22L String thickness : 0.66mm Max Tension : 26lbs Recommended Tension : 13 -20lbs Features, Clear hitting sound Ultimate repulsion Extra solid feeling Extra durability and friction resistance (high durability for thin string???) This is a very thin string and it tend to lost the tension easier so it should string at a higher tension. 26lbs seems to be a bit low, am I right? Most string can strung up to 30lbs. Anyone know what is the meaning of Gauge 22L?
Ignore Gauge 22. Use 0.66 mm as your reference. I tried the Pacific Polyester 0.68 mm. It broke in 5 minutes of warmup. The nylon might be more durable so give us your thought after you string to 30 lbs X 33 lbs .
Ok, no one know what Gauge 22L mean? In their website, they said polyester string have extra durability. How come it broke so easily? What tension you strung it on the racket? I will not try 30 lbs X 33lbs. I think max for me at the moment is 24lbs x 26lbs.
I strung the 0.68 mm Pacific Polyester string to 30 lbs X 33 lbs on a Woven 7. There aren't enough multi-filament.
Gauge is another term to measure thickness. Higher Gauge Number = thinner Lower Gauge Number = thicker It's hard to use gauge to determine thickness because you would need some references in your head. Meaning, you would need to know what different gauges looks like. So that is why I think Pete_LSD said "Ignore Gauge 22. Use 0.66 mm as your reference" because 0.66mm thickness is easier to visualize. Also, gauge is commonly used when using eletrical wires. I haven't heard of polyester badminton strings but I do know that there is wide variety of polyester tennis strings. From what I have heard and used(I'm a tennis player too ), polyester has superb durability but I found them lacking in playability.
I tried the same string at 26/28.5lbs. and it broke in 20 minutes of use. Tried another pack and basically the same thing happened. I was not impressed.
I tried it briefly. imho the feel is similar to Yonex BG66. Would reckon most consumers in Singapore would prefer Yonex BG66 to the Pacific BP66 since they cost the same. Did your friend get the reel from the Pacific distributor in Singapore? I also tested the PC66 briefly. Found it to be 'softer' than the BP66. http://www.pacificbadminton.com/
Ok, that's mean it is not very durable if it is similar to BG66. I am not sure how much the price of a reel of BG66 in Singapore but the BP66 is quite cheap though, just SGD 60. My friend got the string from 10 & 10. What is the difference of PC66 to BP66? The descriptions in the website is just the same . thanks for that.
I use the PC66 and PC80 strings. The PC strings are rated as "super high repulsion" while the BP strings are rated "high repulsion". You noted that the description of the number of type of filaments are the same, but I *think* it is the string coating is different. This is based on my recollection when I was at the store browsing before getting my rackets strung. Have been using BP66 for sometime. Clear hitting sound - good ( BG 66 is slightly better) Repulsion - good (BG66 is slightly better) Solid feel - very good ( better than BG66) Durability - good (better than Yonex BG66), strung at 26lb. Have also tried PC series. Repulsion slightly better but lesser power than BP series.
U might be right on the coating and yes the information on their website is not very descriptive. Hmm, seems this is a good string. Thanks for the feedback.
