BTW, from the pic, seemed like Taufik's physique hasn't looked much different from a few weeks ago, when he was competing(i don't know, maybe the baggy clothing he's wearing).. :D ;)

Anyways, here's the entire article, if anyone don't mind me posting...On that note, anyone willing to help us with the translation(ie. indra, babonimut or ssuly)...greatly appreciated..;)

    Kejurnas Bulutangkis Djarum 2006
    Taufik pun Belum Berkeringat
Taufik Hidayat main tunggal?

Kendati begitu, penampilan Taufik tetap mengundang perhatian penonton.

    Final Kepagian SGS vs Suryanaga

SGS dipastikan dibela Taufik Hidayat, Flandy Limpele, Hendra Aprida Gunawan, Yoga Ukikasah, Lita Nurlita, Stevanie, dll.

“Ini partai seru. Saya pun sulit memprediksi siapa yang akan menang,” sebut Lutfi Hamid, pembina SGS Elektrik.

Sementara itu, Suryanaga diperkuat Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Alven Yulianto, Tri Kusharjanto, Bambang Suprianto, Vicki Indra Okvana, Fauzi Adnan, Yunita Tetty, atau Holly Yusiana.

“Pasti rame, Mas,” komentar Sony, yang kini mengecat rambutnya jadi pirang. (bhw/wis)

    Translation

    National Badminton Championships Djarum 2006
    Taufik not Sweating Yet
Taufik Hidayat playing singles? That’s common. That’s where he has accomplished great careers: Athens 2004 Olympics Champions and 2005 World Champions. Now he’s playing doubles. Is he bored or he just wants to experience something new?

Taufik Hidayat and Lita Nurlita, haven’t really got any challenge.

“No. I played doubles before in the 2004 National Championships in Yogyakarta. I had to play because Flandy and Hendra A.G. hadn’t showed up yet,” he said.

Because Flandy Limpele and Hendra Aprida Gunawan hasn’t arrived from playing at Dutch Open, Taufik had to play two events at the National Badminton Championships Djarum 2006 in GOR Unimed, Medan, 14-18 November. For Sangkuriang Graha Sarana (SGS) Elektrik Bandung Club, he’s willing to play mens doubles and mixed doubles.

SGS coach, Paulus Firman, said that there was other choice. Once Flandy and Hendra arrive, Taufik will play his original event again. “We are short of players, Taufik had to play doubles events,” he said.

On the first day of the Rp 150 Million tournament, on Tuesday, Taufik partnered with Lita Nurlita in mixed doubles. In mens doubles, the 25 years old player partnered with Yoga Ukikasah.

However, as they haven’t faced good opponents in the Group E qualifications, Taufik and Pelatnas Cipayung players who participate at this team tournament haven’t been sweating yet. The opponents from Putra Jambi, Bina Bangsa Jakarta, and Putra Cilegon Banten clubs are still on different level.

Nonetheless, Taufik’s appearance still interests the audience. People in Medan were entertained by his actions. Not only watching the games, the also often took pictures using their cell phones.

    Running More
Having not enough sweats, Hendra Setiawan, who plays with Markis Kido, had to add his practice with running around the stadium. He did that after his club Jaya Raya beat Icli Gowata Sulsel club 5-0. The easy win 21-8, 21-9 against Nur/Rahmat didn’t satisfy Hendra.

“I didn’t sweat. That’s why, Sigit Pamungkas coach asked me to just run,” said the China Open and World Cup winners while he’s going out of the stadium to run.

The similar thing also happened to Luluk Hadiyanto/Frans Kurniawan. These players from Djarum Kudus club didn’t have to put much efforts trashing Sugino/Syahril (Laras Simalungun club) 21-7, 21-10.

“I have to admit that the opponents are not up to par yet. So, the games were used for just warming up, said Djarum’s coach, Christian Hadinata.

“Yes, Sir. I didn’t sweat but won already,” said Luluk.

The National Team Tournament this year involves 24 clubs, as 4 clubs couldn’t make it in Medan. They are Kaltim I, Kaltim II, Pegadaian Sulsel, Bumi Katulistiwa Kalbar, Silva Riau, dan Mura Sulsel. At the same time also will be held the individual tournament for under 18 years old.

The Early Final SGS vs Suryanaga

“This is the real final,” said pelatih Suryanaga Gudang Garam Surabaya coach, Wijanarko. Duel between Suryanaga against Sangkuriang Graha Sarana (SGS) Elektrik Bandung in the quarter final of the National Badminton Championships Djarum 2006, Thursday (11/16), could be called the early final.

Why not? The draws for these two teams are unfortunate. They have to play each other earlier as compared to other big clubs like Djarum, Tangkas Bogasari, and Jaya Raya Jakarta, who predictably will have easy roads to semifinal. In the mean time, SGS and Suryanaga have to kill each other to advance to semifinal.

As the Group E winner, SGS have to play the winner of Group F, which is Suryanaga in the quarterfinal. This is where the “real final” is and the place to prove who’s better.

Since the beginning these two clubs have claimed that they are better than their opponent. From the ranking process until the draws of this Rp 150 Million tournament has been controversy. Both clubs are not satisfied and feel cheated.

As it’s been boiling since the technical meeting, the events that will start at 14:00 Indonesian Western Time in GOR Unimed, Medan, will be tough. SGS will be surely represented by Taufik Hidayat, Flandy Limpele, Hendra Aprida Gunawan, Yoga Ukikasah, Lita Nurlita, Stevanie, etc.

“This is a touch matches. I can’t predict who will win,” said Lutfi Hamid, SGS Elektrik board.

In the mean time, Suryanaga will be represented by Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Alven Yulianto, Tri Kusharjanto, Bambang Suprianto, Vicki Indra Okvana, Fauzi Adnan, Yunita Tetty, or Holly Yusiana.

“It will be interesting, Sir,” commented Sony, who painted his hair blonde.

..hehe, looking at the numbers, yah it's not much *for us* living in a modern/western countries or those of us used to seeing higher prized tourneys..But comparatively speaking for a tournament of that magnitude, it's nothing to "sneeze at" esp. for those smaller club players playing/living over there(who knows how much they're making a month or yr, if at all)...:p
The prize money is even more than the recent U.S. *Nationals* tourneys that were held @ OCBC(which i think were offered @ only $5000-$10,000 for prize monies)..hehe:rolleyes: :p :( ;)

BTW, DoublesPlayer, thanks for helping out with the translation, ..

*Side note-don't know if mods might want to move/merge this thread with the 2006 Indonesian National Championship thread, here(as the article is related to the tourney) :

I thought doubleplayer had said before that there are many more 'Kido' like players at club level waiting and wanting to join the national team. I was a bit puzzle why INA had to field taufik for MD and XD. I think this is a great opportunity to let next in line players to get some more experience playing with the veteran pros.

    Sorry, a bit of clarification..

..actually the translation should be "SGS coach, Paulus Firman, said that there was no other choice" or "...the situation has 'forced' them to do so"..
