I have 2 AT800 DEF's one is 3U and one is 4U. They are both the best racquets that i have used in a long time. I prefer the 4U because it's lighter and quicker at net and defence, while still being a bit top-heavy. I am a player who uses his wrist a lot. So, the 4u is the best chioce for me. It's a great all around racquet, as it is able to produce more than enough power, and is quick through the air.
I would suggest agianst buying it off ebay and go to your local badminton store. If you insist on buying it from ebay because of location issues, etc, make sure you check the sellers name with the ebay watch list to see if they are legit.
The only thing is.... if i buy it from a local store it'll cost me about $300 as opposed to $120 plus shiping ($20) on ebay. plus this guy looks fairly legit to me... check it out ..... http://cgi.ebay.com/Yonex-Armortec-800-Defensive-Badminton-Racket-Racquet-5_W0QQitemZ200047590590QQihZ010QQcategoryZ79787QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
so basically...as long as u buy from tum98 or sumai03, your alight? Therefore the racquet in this lik would be legit....
I bought an MP-99 from tum98. It was a genuine YY racket. Country code is TH. Remember that there's no warranty coverage for it here in North America.
Josh, The racket codes are the same quality. For AT800 I would recommend the popular 3U version instead of the 4U. The 4U is more fragile and has a tendency to overswing. Note because Sumai and Tum only sell TH coded rackets, the 3U version of this racket is not available because Yonex Thailand does not distribute them. You will have to look else where such as Canada, HK an so forth.
Thanks for the advice. what do you meen by overswing? And, if i limit my choise to the 3u version, i think that i would now have to consider the nanospeed 9000 3u also since the only reason i was not considering it as much in the first place is because i wanted the lightness of the 4u. what would you recommend between the nano 9000 and the arm 800de 3u version.
What I define by overswing is that the racket, is that you would the momentum such that the racket wants to swing on it's own. Sometimes this is noticable after you finshed your stroke as you notice it still wants to move. There is a Yonex racket which I use whcih is a 81g which is a good alternative to the the AT800 4U, however the racket in question is dicontinued. It would require some extensive shopping in order to find some which are still floating around.
Josh, I would recommend for you to demo of both the NS9K and AT800DE if you can to get your answer. Other members could try to improvise what racket to choose between the two.
i cant get any demos in my area... which sucks cause i have to base my decision on what i think i will like. Any one got any suggestions/ info about these racquets?
