Sure will. But I am not cutting the string also. So, let's see who's breaking the string first.

Some people has realised the disadvantage of stringing at high tension at 25 lbs expericing elbow fatigue much more often than playing with 20lbs.

Between cutting it and keep playing and hurt my arm, i think we all know what will we do.

Now I am having thought of restringing one of my AT900T to 20lbs to check what I can get out of it, err maybe even 18lbs.
    18lbs? that's my tension.

On one side, we have people with high tension with elbow pain, on the other side, we got people hitting out all the time with low tension.

    Decision decision .....

BF and Andrew: 25 lbs is like trying to whack it with a pingpong bat and the noise it made I was always afraid it'd go off wile coyote style. Dunno about 20 though, I was always fiddling with the strings to straighten out what I did to them last rally.

    currently 23 lbs.

DP, I don't think straightening the string matters that much. I think it doesn't make any different or will cause any errors on the next shot. Maybe you should try it out next time, just ignore how the string looks after a rally. I will try it out as well.

thanks DP..i guess i'll drop it back to 23/24lbs next time... the stringbed feels flat when smashing now.. which means my technique and my arm can't cope with 25lbs yet...

i agree 20 is too low, let alone 18.. will lose too much control, where it's no use if you gain power, you'll just hit the shuttle out all the time...

So, andrewlyw, are you going to cut the string? I hope you are not going to

Recently, I felt a bit tight. So have to let loose a bit. I think 18lbs will do me fine.

Wah, didn't realize it's alreay 1am. Better go to bed now. See you guys tomorrow, if my flu doesn't kill me.

    Default String tensions

Hey guys, I have played around with string tensions over last year and can make a few observations.

I used to play with tension 21-22lbs and yes if you keep your swing speed the same, you will find putting the string tension up will DECREASE your power and also might result in you getting tennis elbow (which I did get).

I persisted with this and now play with 25lbs. To overcome the decrease in power, you need to speed up your swing. Then it actually does become more powerful and accurate (though less room for error on the sweet spot). THe main reason I put the tension up was to make more accurate net shot and also help with defensive shots (let the racket do the work) as my smash is not my most strongest weapon when I play higher standard players.

It really comes down to your "feeling". Most international players have tensions around 30lbs + but they use proper technique and can hit the shuttle on the right spot on the racket each time, but for us, there is more error in our technique and strokes, so less tension means the racket can allow for room to make mistake and so we play 'not bad' compared if we used rackets with 30lbs+ tension.

    Hey Robbo,
ahh yes, I have found the same since trialing 25lbs, its good on the defensive shots. I really like the nice crisp sound when hitting clears & smashes.

Interestingly though get a different feeling when put on titanium strings as opposed to normal strings. Do you use ti strings at 25lbs?
The thing is the feeling is nice, but to me the strings break real easy, I've had so many breakages, or maybe its just my bad mis-hits with the ti strings. haha... next I'm trying 24lbs & see how it feels & lasts - good fun experimenting!.

No I stopped using ti strings for two reasons:

    1. Found they snap more easily than normal bg65s ( maybe we all hit off centre hehe )
    2. I recently got a lot of colour strings which are bg65s and not 65ti's so want to use them up

Lightbulb Buying AT-900 or NS7700 in KL

    Hi yschin,

    A member@BC, wuldup, quoted this:

'I just went to Petrama Complex to buy AT-900 or NS7700. It was 525RM(US$150.00) and 490RM without string'.

Now you know where to get them... or you might want to PM wuldup for more info.

    Cheers... chris@ccc

All these string tension discussion, a new thread is born.

I think we can group racket, string, shoes under thread called "badminton equiipment"

    Any suggestion?

Hey smashed_1, you should give the new Yonex string a try, Nanogy-95. I saw Xinsports selling for $15 each.
