I am 42 & with height of 6'.3". I get pain in my knees after the game. At night also I get cramps.I put silicon cushions in my wilson shoes.Shoes are comfortable.I have tried many other shoes. Some one said it will be better if I wear Air(Nike) shoes. But it is costly so before buying I would like to know your opinions.Thx.
Try Mizuno volleyball or badminton shoes. They offer better cushioning than other shoes. I am about 180cm and weight about 100kg along with two knee operations (basketball). I find Mizuno shoes give me good cushioning and I don't feel much of knee pain after games, however, they are not as durable the outsole tends to wear faster and easily ripped from the bottom. But I suspect that is because I am heaviness has something to do with that.
superfeet green insole helped noticablly with my knee problem u should try it, too bad it didn't saved me from getting another sprint ankle the other day..
and what weight? The cause could also possibly be footwork related. Or completely unrelated. Do you do other exercise? Does that cause knee pain also? Does anything else cause similar pain? Where exactly is the pain? top of knee towards the thigh? bottom of knee towards the shin? back of the knee? under the knee bone? Plus what Pete said. Seeing a specialist is the best way, but think about all these things so you can give him more information.
Knee problem My wieght is 85Kg. I get paid in the knee if I seat on the ground for long.I do 15-20 minutes of warming up exercise before the game. My knee pain is behind the knee shild. Whiile walking I do not get any pain.I have not taken any formal training in badminton so my footwork style may be wrong & pain can be related to that. I have shown it to the specialists but they do not find any problem, they suggest me to continue playing as it will not harm knee.
Yeah, see a specialist first. Knee matter is serious stuff in the long run. Better be safe than sorry.
What pete said you might have did something to your knee during badminton and/or your shoes. but go see a specialist first to see what's the problem.
I use 2 layers of shock absorbers in addition to what ever came with the shoes. When everything was new, no problem was experience. Now after almost 1 year of use, the shock is becoming noticeable in my heel, shin bones, and knees. I think both the shoes and shock absorbers degrade in performance over time. You may well have to replace them more frequently.
I have knee problem too. These are what I have done: 1. Shoe is important, get any shoes that is for Badminton. 2. Wear knee support, it really helps. 3. Improve your knee strength or muscle by doing lunges. Hope this helps.
Sorry, but if your constantly getting pain in your knees and if the specialist say there's nothing wrong and you can play on without causing harm to your knee, maybe you should get a 2nd opinion. No offence intended as I don't know the standard of medical care in your country.
Recently, I'm also experiencing pain on the my left knee cap. Doctor advise to do more cycling, less jogging and some weight training to strengthen the leg muscle.
Old thread sorry to bring this up. Better still is to build leg strength like going to the gym and doing lunges, squats, and calf raise with free weights. Or using gym machines to do leg curls, leg extension and leg press. 'With great legs comes great badminton.'
