As I was walking around the mall with two of my friends today, I was outraged by the price of seeing PS3 prices $1000+. And I am not sure is is there different verisons for Japan and American, but one of the store actually said $1500CDN for a (Japanese Verison)... -.-" Now I understand how people make MUCH more profit than the original company itself (Sony)
The prices are usually high at first just like the PS2, i think now the PS2 cost onli like less than 50% of the starting price, but i dont planned to buy the PS3 though, I am content with my PS2.
its because the demand is so high for them when they just come out, they go low or out in stock if priced lower. Gotta love Supply and Demand
they still releasing games for ps2 so i guess you can get ps3 after they stop, which the price should have dropped already, so i guess the timing is just right
As soon as more ship, the price will go down. It's not a bad deal, $600 USD for a PS3 which is also a Blu-ray player. Some Blu-ray players right now are over $1000. They are actually taking a loss selling PS3 hardware so they will probably not ship a lot of them anytime soon until they have recovered a bit in game sales. At any rate, I hate Sony for their business practices and will continue to boycott them.
i heard that, last time, they stopped releasing new ps1 games to force the sales of their ps2 games Then after being content with their ps2 sales, they allowed the release of new ps1 games again.

Actually, Sony doesn't make much money from the PS3. If I remember correctly they are actually losing money per unit sold.

Yes they are losing profits from the actual PS3 but the lost are coverd by game rights and etc.. And according to the news, each PS3 are actually losing around $200.
There are still games coming out for PS 2, so I doubt there will be a mass game productions for PS3 I assume the mass releases will being Feb or March of 2007.
It's ridiculous to set the retail price to $1000 for first release.. Even those the parts of the PS3 is amazing (IMO) with the Blu-Ray Drive. Sony wouldn't mind losing some profits, they lost will be made up in the game rights.
we m'sians still can't get the ps3 here yet but we can order from the gaming store and they'll import it and it cost RM4000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only some1 dumb would buy that, should wait for the price to fall 1st
