    Hi everyone,

I am wondering what is the difference between MP 99 CH vs SP. Is there a huge difference between them?

I am a female, intemediate player. I am considering of getting a new racquet (although I read a lot about racquet is the second least important equipment in badminton playing). I am thinking of MP99 (I am using MP 27 right now). I tried my friend's MP99 and I like the feel of it, plus I think I gain more consistent playing. But I don't know which verson of the MP99 he is using and he doesn't know either. I am trying to figure this out. I would appreciate if someone can tell me the difference between the versions.

    Thanks in advance.

    Farrah

there is no difference between ch and sp. sp and ch is just a code yonex uses to distribute their racquets to different markets in the world. for example, ch is for the china market. as long as you get a genuine mp99, it does not matter which code it is. the only problem with purchasing ch or sp racquets is the warranty issue.

    Hi Farrah,

Ryim, pretty much summed it up on the racket code part. If you want to figure out which MP99 he's using, you would need to find out the it's weight (U), and grip size (G). Example is 3UG5, 2UG5, 2UG4 and so on....

It should say on the cone of his racket.

    Regards

though MP99 is still used by male professional players and very popular at the junior-international level, it doesn't seem to be used by any female professional players ... wonder why.

I think it is rather on the heavier side plus most gals dont prefer to use MP.Some of my gals pals claims that harder to hit compared to other series..Hmm i dunno maybe it is a men's racquet

    Thanks for the response =D

Is MP 99 really a guy racquet? I kind of like the feel of it though. I have tried MP 27, Nanospeed 9000 and MP99, and I like MP99 the most. I felt like I gain more control and consistency.

FYI, MP99 has smaller head size. Also, it is a very stiff racquet. I think that is why you get more control and consistency from it. It will force you to develope better tech and skill. Good luck.

You could try other rackets as well. MP88 is one common one which both men and women would use, considering it's moderate flexability.

The MP88, would be somewhere close to my own Yonex racket model which I use, which a friend of mine saids as a joke a "it's women's racket!!". My friend is a 2U MP99 user.
