LD is really bad, even bad boy taufik say he's bad LOL

seriously, how does not talking you other players make one bad? What if LD is lousy in english and other foreign languages and nothing to talk about? I wish detractors of LD give specifics instead of just saying he's not nice or he's arrogant. In taufik case, we got specifics, he beat up fans, he walk out on match, he has conflict (blackmail) with pbsi and coaches, gets into brawl with locals, etc

I think going public saying this or that person is not nice and without giving specifics is he himself arrogant

So according to Taufik, and some BC forum's members here... you are considered arrogant if,

    1. You don't talk to others.
    2. You hardly smile.
    3. You are world #1 in badminton.:p

I think LD only gets prize money for winning tournaments, and earn sponsor money for being a great player... does he ever get paid for talking and smiling to others as a professional? I don't think so.

Do all of us talk and smile to everyone we know? Probably not all the time, so does that mean we all are arrogant???

More importantly, I doubt that LD really likes TH's attitude either... but I guess it changes a bit now since LD knows he has a good chance of beating TH these days.

Taufik becomes more and more ridiculous. I used to respect him as a great badminton player, now my respect for him becomes less and less. Too much trashing talking. Prove yourself on the court!

Yes, i bet TH is experiencing pressure from home crowd for his recent non-performance. Since he can't beat LD on court, he's doing it off-court. Who stressed out now?

Isny Taufik great for badminton? All the controversy, attention, coverage?

And now....all I want to see is a Taufik/Lin Dan match.

Love or hate the guy, he has done a lot for badminton on and off the court

Lin headlines imposing China at badminton
    (AP)
    Updated: 2006-12-01 19:57

DOHA, Qatar - World No.1 Lin Dan of China and Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat headline an Asian Games men's badminton tournament that promises to rival any world championship.

Badminton powerhouses China, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand are all fielding strong teams in the six events starting Sunday.

Lin, who won the world title at September's world championships in Madrid, is the favorite for the men's singles title, along with countryman and Madrid silver medalist Bao Chunlai.

Defending Asian Games champion Hidayat, although currently ranked 12th in the world, could also threaten for the gold.

Malaysia's world No. 2 Lee Chong Wei will look to make up for a disappointing world championship, in which he was knocked out in the quarterfinals by Bao.

Hidayat, 25, said this might be his final Asian Games.

"I won the gold medal at Busan, and I hope to win it at these Asian Games," said Hidayat. "This will be my last Asian Games for me, I'm getting too old."

Hidayat had a celebrated run-in with Lin in Hong Kong this year, and doesn't think much of his rival.

Hidayat stomped off the court at 4-1 down in the first game of his match with Lin after disputing a line call. A week earlier the Indonesian star had been unhappy with line calls at the Korean Open.

"I don't like Lin," Hidayat said at training this week. "I know he's a good player, yes, but he's not nice to other players ... he's arrogant."

China's team has nine shuttlers ranked among the top three in the world and is looking to greatly improve its performance from the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, where it claimed just two gold medals - in the women's singles and women's team events.

China's women's singles chances at Doha rest with Olympic gold medalist Zhang Ning and world No. 2 Xie Xingfang, while Hong Kong's Wang Chen, the 2002 bronze medalist, promises a strong challenge.

Doubles world champions Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun of China, who missed the podium at the 2004 Olympics, are considered a strong challenge to win a medal at Doha.

The women's doubles favorites are both from China - Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei and the team of Gao Ling and Huang Sui. Zhang and Yang won the Olympic gold at Athens and dominated Grand Prix events this year.

China is favorite in both the men's and women's teams event following their wins in the Thomas and Uber Cup competitions, respectively, this year.

The badminton competition will be held at the Aspire Sports Academy. It houses an indoor athletics stadium, a 5,000-seat football stadium, Olympic-sized swimming and diving pools, and seven multipurpose sports halls, one of which will host the badminton on three courts.

The last time I checked, being nice wasn't a pre-requisite for winning championships. I guess that's why both LD and TH have won so many.

Errrr...to my knowledge TH has only won two major tourneys, the WC2005 and the Olympics 2004. LD on the other hand, has won ever major except the Olympics.

Alright, let me rephrase. For "championships", replace with "titles". I meant tournaments in general, not necessarily "majors"

    Taufik: Lin Dan arrogant

OLYMPIC champion Taufik Hidayat has launched an extraordinary attack on China’s world No 1 Lin Dan, calling him arrogant and widely disliked by other players.
Taufik, the defending Asian Games champion, also announced that Doha would be his last Asiad.
“I don’t like Lin Dan,” he said here. “He’s just a good player – off the courts I don’t think he’s a good person. Many players don’t like Lin Dan. He’s arrogant and he doesn’t talk to you.
“I know he’s a good player, yes, he’s the world No 1, but he’s not nice to other players.”
Taufik has the reputation of being the bad boy of badminton, with a history of temper tantrums.
But Indonesia’s top player, fettered as a superstar at home and married to a daughter of the chairman of the nation’s sports committee, insists he is misunderstood.
“People keep asking if I’m a bad boy and I say no, I’m not,” the 25-year-old said.
    “I think it’s funny – I don’t think I am.”
At the last Asian Games four years ago in Busan, he held up the showpiece team final for two hours, throwing down his racquet and walking off, upset over a line call.
Officials and teammates had to coax him back onto court, before South Korea went on to down the Indonesians.
A Taufik storm threatened again in August in South Korea, when, annoyed by line calls, he considered quitting a match.
He went one step further in Hong Kong a month later, picking up his bags in an apparent protest over the calls and walking out of his quarter-final against Lin Dan after only five points.
He was docked five world rankings as punishment, but remained unrepentant, calling on the sport’s governing body to modernise the game and install cameras to eliminate such controversies.
Taufik has been sidelined with a back injury for much of this year but is again finding his form.
“I won the gold medal at the Busan Games and I hope to win it again at these Asian Games,” said Taufik, the 2005 world champion.
“This will be the last Asian Games for me, I’m getting too old.”
Taufik defeated India’s Anup Sridhar in the first singles match in the men’s team badminton on Thursday, helping Indonesia to a 5-0 win. The men’s singles event begins on Dec 5. – AFP
