Hey, i was just wondering if you could use tennis grips for badminton racquets, or vice versa... wondering if this is also true with shoes. Thanks Danny.
Tennis grips work well with badminton rackets because of its tackiness and thinness, the thinness allows you to gauge how thick you want your grip to be, but badminton grips are usually thicker, which wouldent be as useful for tennis. Tennis shoes and badminton shoes are different, it is best to get a proper pair of both badminton and tennis shoes.
As long as you feel comfortable with the grip. I do agree with gabxzz about tennis shoes and badminton shoe. they are different.
there really aren't that many grips that are made for badminton... yonex's super grap is actually made for tennis but just happens to show up in the badminton catalog also.
If you're referring to overgrips, of course. Most of the overgrips out there are made for tennis. Not shoes though, there's a big difference. Badminton shoes are lighter, lower to the ground, less padding while tennis shoes have more padding, and less manueverability.
oddly enough, earlier this week i put a pack of wilson sponge tennis grip to see if they are better value for money. They keep theit tackyness for longer but dont absorb sweat as well as karakal pu super grip (badminton grip). but u can just solve this by wiping your hand on your shirt after every rally. i will wait a week or 2 to see if they are better value for money.
Gamma tennis grips are not bad either. I use them myself since I play tennis and badminton. (Although more badminton than tennis now). They last quite long. I usually go through a Yonex grip in about two weeks at most. Gamma grips lasted me a month to two months loosely. The only problem is that I don't find them around that often.
Last question i was wondering one last thing. If i were to take off my old original grip and put an over grip on it (for thiness purposes) would i be at a disadvantage durability wise and feel wise. I got a G3 grip and think it's too think, but i need to change the grip. Any advice? Also, any info on vibration stoppers/reducers? lol thanks.
i remove my grip completely exposing wood. i apply one layer of yonex overgrip directly onto the wood to intentionally get a thin and hard feel on the racquet handle. i find it improves the feel i have for my shots, but it severely reduces the grip life. some recommend sanding off part of the wood carefully and slowly to reduce handle size. you should be able ot perform a search and find a many number of threads regarding this matter.
Tennis and badminton grips are synonymous. You probably tried a replacement grip rather than an overgrip.
i tried a squash grip too. you have to take off the original grip and it lacks tackiness but it fits into your hand real well ^_^
