    mostly incentives will work alot on kids, try some candy, chocolates or a few simple toys as rewards, but their parents might go after you for their decaying teeth

    Play tag. =D Seriously. Get the person who's 'it' to hop around on one leg, trying to catch the others who are running around on both legs. Give them a certain boundary where they can't cross. My coach used to do this, especially when I was younger.. hahaha.

    yy_ling, candy?? hahaha! We're not talking about a circus here.. for every good stunt performed 1 sugar cube.. :p

    kids are from 11 to 15. i am also finding that trying to get some of them to hit under handed and long,as in single service, is proving very hard for some and so next to impossible to get them started in matches which of course thay keep asking to do and is taking up a lot of my time. is there any technique i can use or explanation the last thing i want to do is put them of or make the lose confidence

    For the serves, make a game out of it. Put say, a hula hoop on the other side and line them up adn they have to serve correctly and try and get the bird into the hula hoop. And whoever gets it in the most times is the winner. A little friendly competition never hurt!

    What I have found with kids is that they need a target to aim for rather than a general spot on the court.

    Here's a Serving drill / game:

    - you'll need some different coloured mats (eg/ 2ft x 4ft, red & blue) & some squares (1ft x 1ft)

    Court #1
    -put one red mat (length-wise) along the front service line & against the "T"
    -place one square on the red mat also cornering the "T"
    -place 4 blue mats filling-in the front service-line so that there is a target area of 10ft x 4ft

    Court #2
    -same as Court #1 except 2 less blue mats (remove ones closer to the side), target area is now 6ft x 4ft

    Court #3
    -only the red mat & the square
    -place a series of blue mats covering the length of the back service line with a red mat on each of the corners/ends

    Court #4
    -only the square
    -two red mats on each of the corners (like a letter "L") of the back service line

    Points
    Square=3
    Red=2
    Blue=1

    Kids grab 3 shuttles each, all starting at Court #1
    -kids must serve and get 3 or more points before going to the next court
    -if a kid fails to make 3 points, goes back one court
    -kids who complete Court #4 gets a letter (ex/ P R I Z E)
    -the kid who completes the word then can get a special award

    You can modify it pending on your facility & the abilities of the kids, ex/
    -if you only have 2 courts, you will use half court, and serve straight
    -make the kids go back to court #1 if they fail to make 3 points anytime
    -change the size (& distance) of the target areas
    -kids need to make 4 points in order to continue

    Have fun! ;) Cheers!

    one horrifying game i used to play at drop-in with lower level players was to hit this one lousy square on the court. the drop-in used to be at a gym with basketball lines and baddy lines so on the...left service court connected to the T, there was a little rectangle/square and i had to score a point with THAT being my boundary. "-_- despite the level difference, it was frickin hard and took a good 20 minutes out of my drop-in.
