I myself had been posting in some other forums where the membership numbers were very constant... i only joined here for a few weeks when there were only around 19,000 members...suddenly, when i look at the statistics, it look like this: Threads: 35,376, Posts: 471,810, Members: 20,002 Welcome to our newest member, midknightblue this forum is growing so fast!
I accept it. It's just that most AMericans haven't been exposed to the sport yet. Furthermore, most Americans prefer the more "macho" sports of basketball, football, etc.
Thing is, if US accepts it, it will get more attention and media exposure. Its not that badminton cannot do without US, but things will be a bit fast otherwise.
the problem is one Sir dink is giving Yonex's warrnaty dpt enough headach they simply can't affrod to have thousands of Sir dink playing badminton
And this would not be possible without The man of the decade ! ==> KWUN ! LOL By the way where is he ?! we didn't see any of his post since few weeks ... O_O Well done BC !!
Soccer survives fine without the U.S. or the Olympics. This should be our goal!!! Plus, I don't think the US population would support a sport that they do not excell at. And I believe that most people will notice when the US "imports" international talent. Is there a way to subtract all of the "i've hurt my _______, what should I do" posts???? I swear they bug me to no end!!!! Toddster
i myself think that most americans nowadays prefer watching(passive participation) only! what's the utilization rate of gyms etc.? during super bowl, everyone is gathering around tv!!!!
True, lots of Americans are merely spectators, but during barbecues and such, we tend to play football (not myself, personally, but just a stereotypical thing to do) and such. But yes, overall, we should excercise more, we have an obscenely high obesity rate.
Well, that is because enough countries with enough money and support can popularize it. Problem with badminton is, many of the countries that support badminton just can't contribute as much attention and money to it. Anyways, if the US does get interested, it has the potential to get good at it. Um...lemme explain something about the US: We import everything. 1) The population of the US has been "imported" from nearly country from all around the world. 2) We have very little style in terms of food, but rather borrow from other countries. The only food that we are the masters of is "junk food." 3) Our language is composed of Greek, Latin, French, Spanish, German, and other languages. We didn't make our own language. 4) All of the above applies to our athletes. Also, if those threads bug you to no end, then end the bugging by ignoring them.
thanks red. 20,000 is quite an impressive number! i still remember we used to get really excited when we have 20,000 posts. now we have as many members as we did with posts. the post count is also going stratospherical, in the next month or two we should hit the 500,000 posts mark. 500,000 is a lot of talk about badminton, that's half way to a million! just want to point out that this is possible not because of BC, but because of the members who comes to BC. like it has from the very beginning, it is the passion of badminton that drives this website. thanks guys.
Hmm, let's see, my calculation says... ...500,000 posts DIVIDE by 4+ yrs(365 days x 4 + roughly 230 days) = wow, close to 300 posts/day on avg, so far....and it's counting... kwun, BC/BF will probably need a mini server farm in the near future..hehe
Over 1000 posts/day on the average Hi ctjcad, Yes, we are close to 300 posts/day on the average over 4+ years. But based on the last few months, we should be well over 1000 posts/day on the average. Congratulations to kwun and all participants !!! Cheers... chris@ccc
