i kind of agree with you... but as usual, CHN dominates the team, WD and XD events...

I think should be Taufik. I have watched the individual men single final - Taufik vs LinDan. Taufik's net shots are lightning fast, LinDan lost several points to these killer touch. And backhand smashes seems so natural to Taufik, this stroke i can hardly see even in Lin Dan's plays. But Lin Dan's huge jump smashes are more powerful than Taufik.

yes agreed, but for the reason of defending the title. He managed to transform this extra pressure to motivation.

Gao Ling is the best player at the Asian Games

Absolutely Gao Ling is the best player at the Asian Games, and is one of the all-time best players as well. She is so consistant, versatile, and smart that whoever partners with her can prevail. ;)

Perhaps LD was the best player... He defeated TH twice and "destroyed" LHI in their second match If he managed to win game 2 in the individual final, where he had 3 game points I think, he would have beated TH three times... I don't think TH was the best player, because if he had beaten LD in the team competition, Indonesia had a chance to beat china, but after losing against LD indonesia had no chance... What's worth more? Team gold or individual gold? My second choice would be Gao Ling... 3 gold medals, nothing more to say...

But you could argue then that if Taufik hadn't lost the points leading up to Lin Dan's game point(s) then Lin Dan wouldn't have had game poit in the first place. A point is a point whether your opponent is on game point or not. He could have won that second set sure. But if you look at it another way, Taufik could also have finished it even more convincingly if those points had gone the other way.

But even then I don't think I'd call TH the best player at this Asian Games (or better than LD, I think they're both great and very even), just for the fact that I didn't really see a great deal of matches so I can't really form a well founded opinion :). In fact the only two matches I was able to see (not live either) were TH vs LD (MS final) and Hafiz vs Sho Sasaki.

I'd like to see the other two LD vs TH encounters and the MD final as well, but I'm off to Australia for a holiday (to visit relatives) so I probably won't get the chance to see them for a fair while (or play any badminton for that matter) :crying:.

Edit: Sounds like Gao Ling was great though so my (hopefully well informed) vote goes to her!

C'Mon it has to be KKK & TBH as the best players, if you vote him. KKK would not have won it without TBH.

Anyway, my vote is Taufik - he has to be the BEST at this Asian Games because he beat the best in Badminton (which is LD).

Gao Ling, won 3 gold medals, tt's pretty good. However, I think Taufik performed well too against Lin Dan. Lin Dan made mistakes of hitting the shuttle too high across the net resulting in the direct smash at the net by Taufik. But LD had really really impressive jump smashes.

for me there is 4 choices...
LD + smashing LHI with 3 point onli...
    - he seem lost to taufik when leading...
    - lost to LHI when leading...
=this make him out of best player!

taufik + beat LCW & LD with tremendous skill...
    - din play the best at team event...
    - losing 2 times to LD (maybe is normal)
= quite a nice challenger for "best player"

GL + won 3 gold medals...
    - quite normal with her current performance & consistency this year...
    - doesn't seem to win easily...
= i think quite not match "the best player" but maybe most succesful 1...

KKK +winning the onli gold for mas after 36 years drought...
+having a consistent result since the onli lost in team event...
+playing in his best form all along the individual event...
+having their title in an impressive all straight set win...
+as a big black horse with a non-seed crushing the best player 1 by 1...
-cost mas lost the silver in team event...
=nth to say,he is definitely the one for being the best player in this AG!!!
