Badminton axed from 2012 Olympics

I strongly disagree with this, just wanna know other peoples thoughts,

the reason the olympic committe dropped it is because they say badminton is only known in very few countrys,

also the drop will be replaced with chess possibly? WTF!!!!!!!!

rubbish, thats my thougts. the head of the olympic sports committe should be fired lol, not litrally

haha, thats brilliant, that april fools got me pretty bad at first too. I guess if you just read the article and not the thread you dont stand such a good chance as spotting it as a spoof cos you cant read others peoples alarming posts.

No it's true.
Badminton will be dropped after 2008 OG, because it's so boring.
After all, people used to play it with a cocktail glass in their other hand

Haha, that's preposterous. Badminton was no less developed in England and they host one of the largest tournaments. But indeed, many people were not so fond of the idea that the Games should be held in London. So, contrary to the idiotic comments of YouTubers that "China sucks" and whatnot, I would have to believe that the person who tried to snatch at the Olympic torch might have been dissatisfied with the notion of the Olympics coming to London, and wanted to eliminate that "Olympic feeling" by attacking the torch.

Before opening this thread i was "damn i hope thats a late april fools!".
Aslong as they keep badminton and don't put ultimate-frisbee in the olympics im happy.

I do not wish to spoil Oldhand's April Fool's Day joke (which was effective

) but it wasn't a joke back in July 2005 when the International Olympic Committee met to decide which sports were to be dropped or to be included. Baseball and Softball were dropped from the schedule of the 2012 Olympic Games in London as they failed to receive a majority required to stay on the program. It was revealed that badminton was just in the brink of elimination in that vote.

Badminton did not do well at the Athens Olympics 2004. We were just lucky that Badminton is a popular sport in the UK.

I did mention about this scare in a thread about 2 years ago that Badminton, as an Olympic sport, is not really free from danger from being dropped.

We really need to promote and support Badminton. Please give me some time to find that article again for you.
