Yonex question: price different sp version and jp version.

Why does the price change between jp and sp version?

For example:
nano8000 jp version = 235 US
nano8000 sp version= 188 US

Quality change?

i heard JP racquets were higher qaulity and were made for the pro's use, i'm probably wrong though.

Recently, I have taken to weighing all my rackets (unstrung, factory grip). I don't have a lot of rackets, but I have noticed that the JP versions tend to be at the upper end of the weight range. (2U 90-94.99g, 3U 85-89.99g).

Test weight (100g) ~ 99.9g
Test weight (31.1g) ~ 31.1g
Cab30 MS 2U-G4 JP ~ 94.7g
AT700 3U-G4 JP ~ 89.5g

I'm not sure if higher weight translates to higher quality... I find all of my Yonex rackets with various country codes (JP, HK, CP, TW, CD) to be very high quality. The only country code I have noticed "less than high-quality", at least, on a superficial level is the US version. The paint finish isn't quite as good on the US version compared to other versions. However, as long as it plays well enough for me, it's all good

So in your opinion the difference not is so important to pay 47USD more, no?

I don't think the JP versions are heavier, in general; I believe that just luck of the draw.

Raider: if you think U.S. has lesser quality you need to see the TH code rackets.

Generally, I would say no. The first thing I look for (after deciding that the source is reputable) when buying a racket is if it's the right weight and grip size for me. Even though I live in the US, some of my rackets have country codes other than US. The main reason for that is because Yonex doesn't supply the US with the weight/grip sizes I prefer so I usually have to look elsewhere.

I think they are priced according to the economy in that area.
Japen have higher cost of living,thus i believe that the reason why the racket are priced more expensive that SP

As for the difference,there no way we would know unless someone is willing enough to experience with.

hmm..aren't top end racket say NS8k make in japen under the same production line?

if you like the weight of your victor, then i would suggest you get the 3U, if you would prefer something heavier, then get the 2U.

This is very subjective. There may be quality differences but is it worth to pay that much more? Are they all made in the same factory or?

For their shirt lineup, they've different quality for markets in Japan, Singapore, US etc. They're made in different factories if I'm not wrong. This is very apparent in this thread. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/foru...t=38425&page=3

Again and again, the quality debates among all the different codes. Personally, I've seen so call "superior" JP rackets bite the dust in 2 weeks, and i also know so call "lower quality" TH rackets stand still after years, going through crazy clashes, but still in good shape. So, go figure.

There are always believers and non-believers. Whether you want to pay the extra $$$ or not, it's down to yourself. Yonex JP always claim all the Yonex rackets are with the same quality regardless distribution codes.

3U since your old racket is 86g

not subjective. One has very cool trademark while china counterpart doesn't promise very cool weaving. For shirts and shorts, best is to buy from japan. I doubt that yonex let china make their very cool stuffs. Excellent photos comparison though.

Even if there's a difference in quality, I find it hard to justify the costs so I'll unlikely buy any JP rackets again soon. (yes, I've woken up, 300+ for 1 racket is just....)

I've 1 Iso Ti Swing Power SX SP and one TH. They both seem the same to me! But the TH racket frame does seem to shrink slightly more than the SP (@ 26lbs) as commented by the stringer.

Anyway, there was a thread in which mongoose, jhl and |r|s tried 2 different codes and came to the same conclusion.

if u believe in high quality then u better buy a jp.If u just wanna buy the original but cheap..then the SP is ok.CH is also an option..it's better than the SP but lil bit less than JP.The price range is also in the middle of two.Ur choice..
