    remember, thats instantaneous speed.

I wonder if anyone's measured the average speed or the speed by the time it crosses the net.

yes, it depend on the distance but reaction time required in badminton is much quicker than tennis. Techncially, a shuttle can tumble at near stall speed, so the speed range is huge, from 0.1 mph to 206 mph.

Fu's record is from an actual match.

Wasn't there some event where players came along and just tried to set speed records? There were lots of Danish guys I'd never heard of with amazing speeds.

Naw, you'd stay on the court in a defensive position and say, "Bring it on BIG BOY!"...and then get shelled. :p ;)

and then proceed with being carried of the court on a stretcher, all fans chanting "headshot! headshot!"

On a more serious (! more doesn't mean it's actually serious...just mroe than the above:p ) note, I was on the receivign end of a pro-smash last week. He's a professional doubels player, ranked 61 worldwide, and I got to play a singles-match against him:D

despite being wiped of the court, dramatically, I scored some points, and he smashed a lot...in one word: despair
from my own, however bad, judgement, it was at least 240-250km/h: you don't know what hit you...Reacting to the smash isn't the problem, thinking abot the return is impossible :)o )

I can only imagine 330 (Is there an echo in here?:p )

EDIT: sorry this keeps getting OT, mainly because of me..forgive me, but the question is answered, right?
