I train for track and field long and triple jump (7th and 5th in ON repectively) which i find helps fitness and technique wise.

Measured informaly on one of theo charts they have at school gyms. Stand on your tippy toes, measure the height and then jump and calculate the difference.
I think its amazing that NBA players jump 40", i cant imagine going that high.

How high are badminton players jumping heights.

About 20", I think. Less, probably. I have no springs to save the life of me, and I can't remember from my last measurement.

how do you measure the jump? does it involved running (as in high jump) or dead jump (u stand straight and jump)?

I believe its supposed to be measured with a standing jump, or maybe a 1 step into it.

Lam: you have to subtract the height reached by your arms silly =P

nah, but if i was going for a jump smash in badminton, jumping that high would be a problem. beside i can only jump that high only when i stand still.

Holy cow! That's some vert! Assuming you have a 6'9" vertical reach (measure how high you can touch with one hand raised, feet on the ground)...

That's about a 40" vertical! Dang boyeeeeee, you got hops! :D

That's still impressive, about a 30-33" vertical depending on your reach, should be about 7'4" - 7'7".

You get one step to step into the jump. Sometimes, they'll let you have two steps. Step-step-Jump. But no running jumps.

um not very high, you don't need to jump very high right though it gives better angle? A little jump gives you a lot of power and less margin for error?
