Do you guys find that one side of your racket you hit smashes better and the other side you receive better?

I heard this from a buddy of mine and i do think it may be true because of your grip. (you use one side more than the other and your overgrip kind of is dented so that one side is easier to smash with and other is easier to receive with)

If you guys think so, I think I'm going to paint my strings so that it says something ^^

P.S. I can paint with marker right? ^^

I actually use one side for everything. Because of how small my handle is (yes i'm getting electrical tape soon per somebodies advice) I have trouble switching sides and keeping the racket flat. So one grip/side for everything.

you mean forehand side hits better and backhand side receives better? if you are talking about receiving smashes or anything that goes down low, its true, but in terms of receiving clears its the same for both forehand and backhand,

this reminds me of when i first started playing badminton. I used a crappy racquet and after a couple weeks, it was severely bent. The shaft was slanted so that on one side, the racquet face would be slightly downwards, and the other side, the racquet face would be slightly upwards. I can't remember which side i preferred, but there was definitely one side that I only used for smashes.

is ur racquet slightly bent? :D

nope, most normal markers will dry out your strings. Get yourself some stencil ink, its made for strings, any stringing shop should have it for about 6$ per bottle. or if you have to use marker mark the racquet, not the strings

It's true, but the stencil ink gets really sticky to the string sometimes. Also, for frequent string breakers, whether the marker dries the string a bit more or not, is very much minimal.

No, I don't find that one side of my racket smashes better. If you notice this your racket is probably broken.

Easy way to tell .... try to flex the racquet and bit then switch sides. Which ever is the more flexible side is probably the side when your forehand clear. I think..

Smashing with different sides of racket

The only reason I turn my racket around in my hand is because of the grip. It feels slightly different one way, than the other. Other than that, I don't find that one side of the racket is any better/worse than the other.
