Hi all, I am not sure how accurate this is but CCTV 4 has reported that Zhou Mi is now training and has relocated to Hong Kong. If this is true, can someone tell me why she did not stay in Malaysia?
UPDATED: 08:24, January 05, 2007 China's former world NO. 1 shuttler Zhou Mi to play for Chinese Hong Kong China's former world number one badminton player Zhou Mi will represent Hong Kong, China, but her wish to play for the region at the 2008 Beijing Olympics seems impossible. The 27-year-old Athens Olympic bronze medallist, who was imported into the region around the New Year's Day based on the Top Talent Importing Program, has been sidelined from the Chinese national side since February, 2006 due to long-time knee injuries. "We hope she could resume playing badminton soon and make more accomplishments," said Li Yongbo, head coach of the Chinese national side. "But it is impossible for her to play for Hong Kong, China, at the Beijing Games," he added. "According to the rules of World Badminton Federation (BWF), one could only play for another country or region after he or she is out of the previous team for two years." Zhou is the latest in a string of former top shuttlers to move to other countries or regions after failing to hold a place at the line-up of the China's national team. "Zhou is no threat to the Chinese shuttlers in the future as her type of playing will continue to cause injury. I don't think she will reach the top level like before," Li said. Source: Xinhua
Just in case he got it wrong I don't think Zhou Mi can reach the very top again for singles. I envisage her function as a sparring partner for the new generation and add some depth to the squad in team tournaments. She would be a strong 3rd singles player and if she were to play doubles, would make a strong scratch 2nd pairing.

YPY seems promising, but she still need to continue her development to be proven. WC's age and ZM's health/age/eligibility might prevent them to accomplish too much in the future.

Zhou Mi infact nearly landed herself in Msia. Now LYB is more happier she stays in HK rather in Msia. At least HK is part of CHINA.
