Currently I have a yonex nanospeed 9000 type x and I'm planning to restring my racquet. When I bought it the store already strung it with purple bg 65 at 23lbs tension. I know the bg 65 loses tension more quickly. I plan on getting the gosen pro66 but I have no idea which tension is ideal to me. I think I can go higher then 23lbs. Please leave your opinions.
try increase 1-2lbs at atime until u find that suitable, or u can increase 6lbs then feel ur stroke until the string tension losses at one point, then its ur ideal tension. i prefer the second way, because even if u feel the string tighter, it will losses each time, at least u will find ur max string tension. (cheaper than 1st way)
hmm..maybe 25lb is the way to go??! since it's a gosen pro66 at 0.66mm then I think it's going to snap a lot faster =)
Pro 66 is only 0.66 which is much thinner than BG65. Therefore, even at the same tension (23lb), Pro66 should feel a lot stiffer than BG65 already. Therefore, if you go 25lb or 26lb on a thinner string, I suppose the jump is a bit too big.
For about any player, imagine yourself on a graph, a curve for example. There is a certain tension range where you can take full advantage (around the middle) of the string. If you're too much off off to the left or right side, your performance would drop off as you cannot take advantage of that tension.
Thanks matt, I actually want to try the yonex bg 85 first then other strings to see which one I like. So the bg 85 is a little thicker than the pro66. Do you think 24.25lbs is good? Today for my lessons I felt like my strings were too too loose probably less then 20lbs. Thanks
You could go like 24.5 or maybe down to 24. Ultimately, it's up to you to discover what your optimium tention range were you can use a string to your full potential.
That's my tension number used on my NS9K S. The stringer finds nothing wrong with it since it is being done on a crank.
it's not hard to do any tension, but with the sure tension loss during the process (i.e. clamping, knotting, etc), I don't think the 0.25 accuracy will be reflected in the actual final result.
your profile says you're at intermediate/advanced level. Why do you need lessons? Why are you so concerned over 0.25 lbs?
You can get 50 coaches, but its YOU the player determine whether you can be as good as LD or not. Btw, I think we are totally off topic now. No need to hi-jack the original poster's thread. If you want to discuss coaching (in a reasonable way), then, maybe start your own thread.
