Default How often do you change strings?

I was just wondering what the average lifetime of badminton racket strings are. I know it depends quite a bit on the type of racket, tension, string itself, and playing style, but even so I'm hoping to get a ballpark of the figure.

Incidentally I purchased two brand new rackets at the same time about 5 months ago and the strings on both rackets broke off literally within minutes of each other. Freakish coincidence?

Did my strings last more, less, or close to the average lifetime of badminton racket strings?

    Thanx!

I restring every 2 months. I suppose the fact I play at high tension and I hit really hard due to squash.

I succeed to break string just once. It was after 6 months of playing 3-4 times a week. The racket was strung from factory and experienced beginner (in the early stage) and intermediate game.

I restring my rackets every 3 weeks even if they are not broken!

Wahh .. you're really giving the shops plenty of opportunities to earn your money ..

Thankfully you have only like 3 or 4 rackets at hand now?

    ...Can't imagine myself doing that ... 7 !

One of my rackets has got strings that are some 4 years old !

Ok, back to the serious part of things. Typically, the BG-85 last me about 20-30 hours of solid playing. Which is about 15-20 sessions. That works out to be about 5 weeks to 3 months. I change them usually before they even break. But by then, they would have frayed very badly already .

I thought I was crazy when I restring my rackets abt 4-5 weeks for a period of time.

But I've to stop doing that now because I've to save money to get a few more rackets! (Hey, when I get BG 88Ti, I can't string every month or I'll be broke!!)
Now I will string my rackets every 2-3 months time.

3 months is the upper end of the range for me but I rotate with about 5 racquets. Getting fed up with the shorter lifetime of BG 85. Will be switching to BG80.

    Try BG68Ti.
    They last longer than BG85.

haha, i was expecting your post to be something like "BG-68 Ti sucks!!" or something like that......

Anyway, i had no idea that you guys change strings that often. I haven't changed my strings in quite a while, but then again i have many rackets that i switch in between so the strings don't get worn out and lose their feel very quickly, and also, i use BG-65! my personal fav!

I said BG68Ti last longer than BG85. I didn't say it was better!
