Malaysian media is talking about closing the gap on Lin Dan again. Damn it, he doesn't have to work so much harder to close the gap, it's about the focus now, that is the thing that needs to be closed on. I didn't think both of them were at their best during the Korean Open!

Me too, at first I thought these two are getting older

Why are they lacking those fast exchanges but after watching the game again

I realized Lin Dan was pacing himself to overcome chong Wei great fitness,

    speed, court coverage and defenses

Chong Wei on the other hand couldn't have played any better,

probably a bit not patience enough and simply luck wasn't with him

But nonetheless it was still a great match and display by both players

Pace adjustment has been the focus of LD throughout the past few tounrnaments. I don't really know much but from the limited knowledge I have, this pace adjustment allows you score the most points(put you in a comfortable lead during intervals) in sets with smallest effort possible.

LCW on the other hand made too many unforced errors. Probably due to the drift or he was pushing for the side/back lines too much. Also his slice drops placements are not that effective this match(landed further down from service lines) and he was a bit impatient in some rallies like you said. Pace injecion(or changes of pace in rallies) is something LCW can improve further. He has it but not as abrupt as LD does, which makes LD's shots are lot harder to read when LD's changes the pace.
Tactically, LCW has still alot to improve as he need to find more ways to win more rallies without relying completely on speed and power. Working on tactics/rallies construction will certainly increase his chance in the upcoming matches. This is an area which I feel most MAS players/coaches have to work, including doubles. Can you believe that Japanese players were openly criticizing MAS players' for being too predictable in recent matches?

    Just my opinion anyways.

Yes he was impatient at times and that cost him dearly

As they say, so near yet so far

A few cross court smashes which was sure winner shots but he missed..oh dear

And those misses gave ld the extra boost just see how he reacted to it,

so cool even at one time even sticking out his tongue hahaha

The fella has sharp eyes and he took advantage of that moment a few times

and obviously that was the difference between the winner and loser

If ld lost the lead in the first game he would have been in a lot of trouble.

Anyway, both played quite well though the tempo ain't the same as Olympic 08,

probably this time lcw was more focus and has closed the gap with ld or

Ld on the other hand after seeing how he beat other china players earlier,

decided a different strategy against him

And that could be the reason why he managed to pace himself so well

It is good that the margin is getting closer as they are ageing. However, LD still holds the majority with a 60-40 ratio. LCW will have to be at his best and not cracking up in the end if he wants to win this. Credit still goes to LD. Some how, LCW still trembles when he play LD. I wonder what the psycho coach can do?

sometimes is sad to see so many people want to attack LCW in one way or another...
although LCW never did anything wrong or bad to them...even a simple gesture like
never say sorry when he got a lucky net shot, never congratulate his opponents when
he lost or even when he lost 7 points straight, people will find excuses to attack him..
but end of the day, the guy bag RM 400k plus in January alone!!! I stress again in January only...
so he is the one laughing at the end and those attacking him is wasting their time...i don't think he care at all..

For Non-Malaysian, I can understand but Malaysian who attack him, ???
It is ok if they don't like him but no need to attack him.

And you won't be paid to help him, it's compulsory he makes it through
