While LCW fans want him to be right at the top again they must also acknowledge that LCW is already 30, an age when he has to work doubly hard just to maintain his former fitness especially.
For most players age 30 represents downhill and it is inevitable that younger talented players will be able to beat him from time to time. The other negative is that having to train doubly hard may also bring about unwanted fatigue and injuries, so in fact he has to balance his tough training with adequate rest in between.
A serious injury may set him back 3 to 6 months and this is something no professional player wants to undergo for it means a loss of income and ranking points. In the past we have seen some top players returning from injury to start all over again as qualifiers. So older players must be more careful in order not to fall into this dreadful situation.
Therefore it will be prudent for LCW to take a deserved rest to heal his wounds and return fresh to fight another day.

If he wants to keep it that way,
there is no choice but some harder training
take a look at how Lin Dan's game,
evolved between 2008 and 2010
and 2010 until 2012 olympic.
He has a good team back home,
understanding him physically and mentally.

His 2nd time after he won it in 2008.. What an achievement. Not sure if any sportsperson in Malaysia can achieve this feat in years to come.

if those junior get to play in senior tournament once they won something in junior
it will be totally different now.
our current batch of player(ws and ms) is 5 or 8 years lagging behind country like thailand and taiwan, not to mention other powerhouse.
while our double department to lagging behind for 3-5 years.

there were cases of players playing a 2 day competition,
end up with a total of 12 matches or between 34-36 sets
and those officials really did a good job in smashing their muscles .
Rest for a day or two, those winners went to play national aged group final
great, isn't it?
