Is there anyone knows what is LCW wearing on his left hand (above the wrist)? It seems like a magnet in a tape sticking above his left wrist.

It was a really close match; far from being trashed.

LCW has carried singlehandely the Malaysian name in the world of sport, especially
badminton. It is an amazing achievement for anyone to be the no.1 player in
the world in any sport - you are the very best out of 7 billion people!
And to do that consistantly and for such a long duration...

But now age has caught up with LCW and in todays competitive world once you
reach 30 its difficult for the body and you lose elasticity, speed, power, explosiveness,
and your body takes longer and longer to recover.

Lets savior LCW - one of the worlds greatest sportman and Malaysias greatest ever
sportman - whilst he is still playing and give him our support and encouragement and
tone down our expectation of him winning and winning.
Lets enjoy him as he tone down his tournaments and support him as he wind down
    his career.

Thank you LCW for an exciting and fun ride in the world of badminton!!!

Depends on what datuklee want, meaningful title or money.

If money, he should join all competition like he is doing now and not giving his body much needed rest.

If glory, he should be doing what Lin dan doing, preserve his body to best condition and only come out once in a while.

A body of 30+ as a sportman is still a dangerous weapon added with tonnes of experiences but this body cannot be use regularly because of the slowed down recovery rates

I pretty much agree with SibugiChai. LCW is now quite old already 30 Years Old and for such demanding sports such as badminton getting old is really a big obstacle and giving opponent the upper hand provided they are on par skill wise. From Denmark Open 2013 Final against they mighty Young Dragon, Chen Long, it seems to me that now it takes longer for LCW to score point and more smashes are needed to be executed, and it tires him and slow him down. If only LCW win the 1st set, he would probably be resting in the 2nd set and inject the pace once more in the 3rd set, he could probably grab the title. However, Chen long beat him in the 1st set after several deuces. In my opinion, LCW needs to sets his own target and decide the style of play.

If LCW is looking for money, He have to maintain his World No.1 status and hence he just follow the tournaments Yonex ask him to participate which is quite a lot in a year. However, If LCW wants to grab another big title, such as Asian Games, World Championship, or even Olympic, he needs to develop a style of play which is customized to his own body limit, so that he could perform really well in a 3 tight sets in a final. He just needs to maintain his world ranking so that he would not need to start from Qualifying round, hence more time for preparation and resting for his body and mind.

I believe LCW can still beat CL if he really wanted to. There is no doubt in my mind that LCW will defeat CL in the next major Championship but I am not so sure about the lesser tournaments. Part of the reason is LCW doesn't want to get injury or over extend himself in the smaller tournaments. All LCW' fans, there is nothing to worry about, LCW is fine and I believe he is trying to time himself and make himself peaking at the right moment.

LCW's fans should not worry much. He is >30. Yesterday was his birthday. At the wrong side of 30, he is bound to lose some in some tournaments. One title lest should not make him lose sleep.

Like post #9632 said, he may only go all out in more important tournaments.

It may take another 20 years for MAS to have another world no.1 ranking player in MS!

Looks like BWF will grant Lin Dan another wild card next year.

    http://gzdaily.dayoo.com/html/2013-1...nt_2426253.htm

    How should LCW respond?

I think Chong Wei should threaten to withdraw from next year WC or, better yet, threaten to retire...

I doubt that. Not that I know of another potential Malaysia prospect, but the fact that we've seen so many different people sit on the world no.1 throne in the past 20 years, I do not think Malaysia are incapable of producing another. But to produce another LCW, someone who has been consistently as good as him is probably less likely to happen anytime soon.

Missed LCW's birthday. In fact, it looks like only nokh88 acknowleged it on this thread.
Happy birthday to a man who is a supernatural player and yet, as noted sadly in some comments above, still only human.

Happy belated birthday LCW. May you have many happy years ahead.

To avoid future controversy, BWF should grant automatic berths to past champions(up to 3 years) if they wish to compete rather than on a case to case basis. With LD case, there are more winners than losers if a wild card is granted.

I think LCW should respond in a positive manner by saying he welcomes all challenges from anyone, not only LD or CL. If LCW wants to be the World Champion one day, he should be able to beat anyone, be them current touring professionals, semi-professionals, amateurs, retired players or semi-retired players. To be World Champion, he should be able to beat everyone that comes along his quests.
