No, train overseas, not in Msia. Nicol David progressed better after she shifted her base to overseas, less pressure & uneccesary distraction from the politicians. From association ones to ministers, up to Prime Minister. But no matter what, squash is still not OG sport, the magnitude of the pressure is still less.
Why you think the track cycling team were told by their coach not to speak to the media until after their event over(for major events like CWG, Asian Games). Track cycling is another sport which train overseas- Australia. Imagine, train in Aust also they feel the pressure, badminton, no need say.

The other OG sport earmarked as medal potential for Msia is diving. OG still 8 months away, Pandaleela already feeling the heat of pressure of London OG, thank goodness they sometimes train in China.

No, no. Nichol is good therapy for LCW. She will help him to relax. Get into something different from baddy for a while. Enjoy himself to refresh and turn into a new man.

I wonder whether LD is now a new man...

I doubt that..Azizul has the abilities IF he's full recovered and back to full fitness which is what he's currently doing...

If money can buy Olympic GOLD medals, then the Olympic Dream of many poorer nations may want to challenge your debate. Also, Singapore (being richer than Malaysia) should do better than Malaysia.

And let's have a look at Jamaica at the Olympics;

Train overseas for squash, diving and cycling make sense because other countries have the upper hand in terms of experience, coaching, training facilities, programme, etc, hence the demand to send them overseas to raise the standard of those sports in MAS, and don't say it is totally a waste for taxpayers. MAS got Nicol David in the end for squash, and the athletes for track cycling and diving able to raise their abilities to at least compete with more dominant countries, whether or not they able to get medal (be patient and support them la). But badminton? Where should LCW go? China? I can imagine LYB and the rest, especially LD and CL visit LCW at training centre somewhere in China to watch LCW train. Denmark? Indonesia?

I do remember that LCW loved the training sports center in Bath, England. BAM sent the players there (was it 10 days?) before WC, and the cost was about RM54,000 if Im not mistaken. Should he go there then? A month before Olympics?

My debate is 'Money cannot buy Olympic Gold Medals'. But passion and dedication can.

Actually, Jamaica is not a poor nation; Kenya is much poorer, but look at the Gold medals that Kenya has achieved;

Of course money alone can't buy Olympic medals but it can help athletes to perform better. Then why send Nicol to Holland and the divers and cyclist for overseas training?

you only bring up Jamaican and Kenyan where it's all about running...running is mostly physically oriented, so the talent naturally born with..

what about other sports which requires much resources mostly equipments??? Do you think Phelps could win if he swam in a pool in Jamaica?

Malaysia didn't send Nicol to train in Holland. It's where Nicol chooses to train (as an independent player). I shall ask Nicol why she has chosen Holland when I see her next when she comes to Melbourne for our Squash tournament.

I rather not talk about taxpayers' monies spent on sportspersons, but to talk about the drive and the love of one's sport that one has.
