Personally, I prefer to watch LCW play doubles, like he did with Vivien Hoo during the local tournament. It's less punishing to his physical body with a partner to share the work/burden.

Yup, I bet Vivien is practically praying that would happen so that LCW can lift her up from her doldrums now.

But then, maybe Mew Choo will forbid it.

Instead of complaining and worrying about LCW and LD's declining quality of play as age catches up, we should be thankful we still have 1 or 2 years more to enjoy this 'healthy' badminton warfare. I say 'healthy' because, it is mostly due to 'overly chauvinist remarks' of deranged fans that feed unhealthy warfare.

I say, be thankful that CL is here for us to watch also, even though his style of play may be boring (that's because you have LD to compare him to), imaging what it would be like when players like Arif and Darren are suddenly force to fill in the huge vacuum should LCW retires, or other similar scenarios.

I do hope that Pablo, Henri, or some other hugely naturally talented star burst onto the scene in the very near future. Soon.

I think the european and american golden age stand longer than asian. Not just in badminton but in others sports european and american commonly can maintain they peak until early to middle 30's, compare to asian ussually down when reach 30. It just from what I observe.
But for Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei it might be different. They're phissically above any other asian player in present and past. So I would like to see both of them hang in more 3-4 years and bring us more and more fun. Till Rio 2016 may be ???

PETALING JAYA:The Star Media Group is proud to present our two inspiring athletes Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Pandelela Rinong Pamg RM100,000 each for their sterling efforts which brought our nation together.

Chong Wei fought tooth and nail with arch-rival Lin Dan of China in the men's badminton final, but lost.
Pandelela, meanwhile, became the first Malaysian woman to win an Olympics medal when she clinched the bronze in the 10m platform event.
Star Publications (M) Bhd executive deputy chairman Datuk Vincent Lee said the reward was a small token of appreciation from The People's Paper to the People's Champions.
�Chong Wei and Pandelela have shown us that Malaysia can perform well at the world stage. They showed the world that we can be champions,� he said.
Lee said it was such a joy to see the people so united, cheering our athletes on, from wherever they were.
The company, he said, has always been in the forefront of showcasing inspiring stories and is currently running the Be Inspired campaign.
�Nothing can be more inspiring than watching Chong Wei fight point for point with Lin Dan or how Pandelela executed almost perfect dives on her way to third placing,� he said.
Lee added that the one thing that truly stood out was how the nation was united as one to cheer our athletes.

Just making a quick remark here, currently don't have time to run a thesis. Malaysia's former top MS player, Wong Choon Han, during his heydays (around 2002 - 04) showed LD a thing or 2 with his left hand, producing utterly deceptive drops and quick reflexes. WCH was quick witted too, mind you.

Wong Choon Han won the China Open 2002 and was runner up 2003. The 2003 match, with TSB and Misbun think-tanks sitting at one corner, LYB and another guy sitting at the other corner, the match was exhilarating to the brim.

WCH too, possessed skills of tricky drops and fast paced half smashed placed like former world craftsman, Zhao Jianhua. In 2003, LCW lost to LD in the opening rounds as LCW was still learning the ropes then. Its really too bad that Malaysia has no left handers to rival LD. Sometimes it takes a lefty to know another lefty. Henri the swedish guy seems to be picking up. But story will be for another day. Cheers.

Not recommended. Could be rosy one minute, disastrous the next. If you know what i mean. For friendly or exhibition matches to plant badminton seeds of the future, ok la.

Very Hard work man to maintain the physical condition required at such a high international level. Furthermore the Dato has some unwanted distractions such as being involved in the property/construction business.

He is also predisposed to unexpected injuries even at a younger age now. Will it be any easier for him at an older age?

LD, I suppose, has less distractions and he is more stable win an understanding wife by his side. Perhaps his current weakness is the lack of motivation to sustain his interest in competitive badminton.

Lee CW is definitely good as MS for another two to three years with a high chance of grabbing at least one major title (as I believe Lin Dan is in semi-retirement mode from now on). To ask him to switch to XD or even MD may considerably increase his probability of doing very well in those disciplines but his inability to achieve inner satisfaction or regret in not capturing a MS major title may weigh heavily on him the rest of his life.
