As Lazy Buddy said before, just get a digital fishermen's scale. It's $30 or less. Or borrow one.

Ouch, was that a mosquito bite ? It doesn't hurt. But I can definitely feel the itch :).

If everyone always agree on everything, there would be little room for interesting discussion or innovation.

One thing we musn't assume is that readers are stupid and are easily taken in by 'untruths'. Even if they were, surely their assumed stupidity would make them just as easily susceptible to the 'truth'. Given that the righteous 'truth' endowed are notably vociferous and in the majority, then where is the threat ?

Apologies to the op for going OT. I can't help philosophising occasionally.

Internet forums are hardly the place to find a majority who know the truth.

    Fishing Scale

I also use a fishing scale to adjust my stringing machine. But I am surprise to find that even the fishing scale is a bit off. I used drop weights to test the scale and found that it's about 3 lbs off. So I ended up re-labeled the scale.

The quality of the scales do varies. So don't be cheap. ;)

Make sure you purchase a digital one that recalibrates itself each time you turn on. Readily available and cheap in the U.S.

Attention Walmart shoppers. We have Sir DinkALot approved product in outdoor sports section. Including the 22 ga fishing string for CD6's badminton racquets.

    Hi folks,

Cheers for the great advice here.

I have since calibrated my machine, and to my surprise - its between 4 and 5lbs out, I set my stringing machine to 25lbs, cranked it - and the display read between 20 and 21 over 5-6 times I tried, I have since adjusted, and now its bang on 25lbs.

Right - next problem, I seem to be losing tension, when I string a racket - the tension is superb, during the days after - it tends to lose tension, 2-3-4-5lbs i would think, is this due to my string stretching, or am I doing something wrong ??

Am using Strength-Pro Nano 70, and Yonex BG80 - and its happened to both.

    Cheers again, Vaughn.

instead of going by the wrong tension, can't u tell your racket feel soggy at 20-21lb, regardless what your machine said it was?

When my machine was out, I was stringing at say 27-28 - the end tension was ok for the first few days, but then lost it.

The first few days, the tension feels nice..., but then goes downhill, can only think the string is stretching.

Is there any official or unofficial chart which lists how much string stretches by ?, ie: to get an end of 25, you need to string at 27-28 with BGxx/whatever string ??

Hail Master SH! Hail Master SH! . . . :D

Not sure about the 22 ga fishing string for CD6's badminton racquets, but the Master Dan approved unit sure is nice :D.

    Hi there
According to a UK badminton website, your freshly strung racket
will lose approx 10% of it's tension within 24 hours, whether you
    use it or not.
So if you want say 24lbs, string it at around 27lbs, don't use it
for a day or so, and with a bit of luck, you should have 24lbs.
If it stays at 27lbs, and you break your wrist, or your frame,
please forget that I mentioned it.
    alan
