I just checked out this place today. It's located at leslie and hwy7, it's where Lee's used to be before they moved to their current location a few year ago. they have 3 courts, 1 court reserved for beginners, and 2 court for intermediate/advanced (they will assess your level to see if they'll let you play with them). feather only, but you need to bring feathers yourself too.

One downside is you must be a sign up for a fitness membership there in order to have access to the badminton courts. it's ~50$/month, plus a 1 time 100$ initiation fee. Of if you know someone who's a member, they can take you in for 10$ guest fee. Or it's 50$ for a day pass. Other than those costs, there's no fee for the badmninton club, as long as your level is at least intermediate.

From a quick glance, the players look ~Ontario D. I didn't stay since it was too expensive and i'm not likely to use the gyms there for anything else other than badminton. was there at ~12pm (11:30 -3 pm) and only saw ~6 int/adv players and 3 beginners.

    Parkway Badminton Club>>>>

Yes you are exactly right!!! Parkway Atheltic Club has changed sinced I have just cancelled my membership after just after 3 years there.
I was paying just $995 per year for the memebrship for my wife and myself. We played there 3-4 times a week since to make it worthwhile, but the level was dropping all the time and I did not enjoy the changing rules of the place over time.
Jimmy is the person in charge and his level is definitely questionable I think not even "D"....however I met up up with a few good players there over time....
I have just started playing at a club in Markham at Unionville High School on Fridays with a much higher group and we even go out afterwards for sui-yet(late night dinner-snacks) with everybody there.
In fact the level is so much higher that we have entered 3 Ontario competitions and done pretty ok!
I have just returned from playing the tournament at the Boulevard Club which was really well run and so much fun with a great dinner and dancing afterwards.

    Ok best regards,
    David

    Playing at Intermediate Level

Hi there, so you are looking to play intermediate>?
In the area there are many clubs, but you really need to get into a club where you can play better. How many nights are you looking for...weekday/weekend? Plastic/Feather birds? What is your preference?
How long have you been playing and what are your expectations....meaning do you want to get better or just play for fun?
Let me know...so I can direct you.....also, what area do you live in, so it is not too far to travel....
    regards
    David

Anybody have any experience with the above group?
Dunno if it's just the current go rate in TO but I find the prices of their group lessons somewhat excessive (compared to Vancouver)

I just started playing just over half a year ago and thinking about lessons.
Looking for weekday night lessons close to Kennedy/Finch and accessible by transit...

    hi David,

I live in Bayview and highway 7. I prefer feather. I m looking to play couple nights per week for fun and exercise but want to improve my game as well. I have been playing badminton for 6 years and I like sports in general, I play soccer in a league during the summer and badminton is my winter game.

    thx

    Kevin
