Singapore Badminton Association President, Mr Lim Swee Say, who will be the new chief of the National Trades Union Congress, has now chosen a new Minister of State to be groomed to taken over from him in due course. A few targets have been set and even leadership renewal is on the cards. In 2006, Singapore's shuttlers garnered a bronze at the Asian Games in Doha. The women's team clinched the third spot and a first medal for the sport at the Games. This aside, the women also made it to the finals of the Uber Cup, six years ahead of target. President of Singapore Badminton Association (SBA), Lim Swee Say, highlighted these achievements at an awards presentation. For 2007, he wants the women's team to win gold at the SEA Games. Mr Lim also named a successor, even though he plans to serve as SBA president till 2010. Mr Lim, who is also a Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, said that he had invited Minister of State Lee Yi Shyan to be SBA's deputy president. - CNA/ir
