Taping the racket head for scratch protection?

Hi to all pros out there. I don't usually practice in gym, so my cousin and I play badminton in our yard, which is CEMENTED. I taped the top of the head of my racket with BLACK Electrical tape, so it won't scratch if it comes in contact with the ground. Do You think it will affects how I play if I have it taped?? Or would it be the same if it's untape?? What would you think is the best? Thanks!

well, it's better to not to scrape the ground.
If u must tape the frame top, it will make your racket slightly more head heavy but it's not a big concern for recreational play.
Experiment it with duct tape as well.

Agree with Cooler. In addition, if on cement, I'd play with inexpensive aluminium or steel rackets.

If not, then you can go to any sporting goods store and pick up some tennis racket protective head tape.

Cooler, thanks for replying. Oh well, i guess i should remove it for my tournament play. About the duct tape.. it wouldn't look very good on my racket.. lolz ^_^

DinkAlot, I will try to look for tennis racket protective head tape... I have extra rackets that worth about $50, and i wouldn't care if it's scratch. But tournaments are coming up so i'm trying to get used to my nano 9k... ^_^

I also agree... also duct tape may leave residues/peel paint when you do take it off.

Yup the paint will eventually rip off when you pull the tape off. It's better not to put the tapes on for me =)

well, I don't knwo if a seller is near you. But Sotx makes some "body covers"

it's a transparant piece of PU covering the racketehad from 3 to 9 'o clock (up top).
from the package:L
-no obstinate glue afetr use and keeps racketpaint intact
-no effect on feeling of the racket, balance point changes 0.1-0.2cm
you get three covers for ~10usd (not cheap..)

i'd never bring out my rackets to play outdoors.

Just wait until your season starts and you can play in your school gym.

Seeing as you can get lead tape (to alter the balance) or protective tape from reputable suppliers I think you’ve found an inexpensive solution to a problem.

Heaps of people use tape where I play. The courts are a bit rough and a scrape can snap strings.

Well,it helps u to reduce the risk of scratching from taking the shuttle from the ground with ur racket,or when u try to take low shots(defense).How to apply?It is made according to most of badminton racket's frame size,so u can simply stick it.

Well, i got one yonex edge guard from japan. Its red in color. Will post a picture when i get home tomorrow. Its around USD$3 per pc if i do not remember wrongly.
