I own 2 Yonex Armortec 800 Offensive rackets (CD model and SP model). Both of these rackets have broken a total of 3 times at the 12 o'clock position, and never due to a mis-hit or a clash with another racket. Every time, Yonex Canada has replaced the racket for a brand new one. The last time I sent it back though, Yonex Canada sent me a Nanospeed 9000 Type S instead of a replacement Armortec 800. When I inquired as to why, they told me it's because the Armortec 800 has been discontinued. I strongly suspect they made this decision to terminate this product because of a severe design defect that results in a very non-durable racket head. Unfortunately, they won't admit that this is the reason. See the attached image to see what I'm talking about. How many Armortec 800 owners has this happened to?
Interesting. Yeah, that must be a defect because I've never seen a racquet buckle in that place from ordinary stresses.
I have broken: -Three 4U AT800-OFs -Two 4U AT800-DEs -Three 4U AT700s All from mishits at around the 8-9 o'clock area and one racket at the 12.
Haha...okok..thanks for letting us know abt this info!! Its so exciting to know a new high end model of AT series is coming. Time to prepare some $$$..
High-Noon Disease Your racket broke at 12 o'clock due to the stringer's mistake. He probably adjusted the central post too much and pushed it inward into the frame. What stringing machine is it?
It sure does look like a stringer mistake to me too... The way the racket head has buckled in, could be because of not enough padding to the racket head while stringing...
Da marster ,what is the tension ,because I try 17kg with bg80 it is ok,amortec 800 off, I think maybe the stringer did ,or you do a lot of missshot at 12cclock???? MING
Yonex gives you a new racket for a clash with another racket? My armortec 800de broke 3 months after I got it, and when I told them, they said that they wouldn't replace it because I broke it because of a clash. I even had a warranty card thing:crying: . By the way, my armortec 800de broke at somewhere around the 9 o'clock position. Stringing was only 21lbs.
Depend on the mounting method, 6 pt machine might caused the racquet to crack if the 12 o'clock is pulled too hard. I think this is caused by the inexperienced stringer. I will suggest daMaster to check the racquet in store before you pay for the job.
