it is a well timed capture. but decisive moment specifically says it must be a event with significance, and that organization of forms must give the event its proper expression.

it looked to me that somebody hit himself with a stick, and somehow it has something to do with shaolin kung fu. but perhaps my lack of knowledge of the event is not allowing me to see further through what is actually going on and why the man hitting himself with a stick is of what significance.

or shoot on continuous and picked out that one?

Neil, That's a "moment of luck" haha.... If I remember correctly. It should be the second frame of that series.
I've never set my 20d to "single" mode coz, the shutter trigger needs to be completely released before I can work on another! Besides, the shutter time lag of 20d is quite bad for sports. I will have confidence in capturing that moment with my old buddies like my Nikon F3 and F5 or perhaps an EOS1 but not with my 20d!

kwun, it was a shaolin kung fu demonstration. I don't know if that event was significant enough to have a decisive moment. But If we look back to Bresson's picture. A lots of his shots were snap shots from street. The event wasn't a big deal to him somehow.
Therefore, If we are referring to a event with significance. Perhaps it wasn't. But if we are referring to a moment with significence. I think it was!
