...anyone's coming to play/watch??..Looks like the lineup/list of players is quite tantalizing(as some of the current/new U.S. National players will be competing)...Here is the tournament link: http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/tournament.aspx?id=13072
And i heard.. ..they will use the new scoring system format, 21x3....hmm, there could be some confused players out there, esp. in doubles play...
i know somebody who will.. look out for the BC shirt. how come i don't see Dinky's name on the draw??
I was going to play Funky Doubles with Alex Liang or Don Van but I hurt my shoulder and it has not recovered... ...then they allowed Trisna Gunadi to play with Mona and I was like, "What duh?!?!?!" ... ...then I saw Eric Go and Arnold Setiadi and that really made me...smile!
Well.. ..hehe, it's not too bad afterall, because 2 lucky pairs of Chi Huynh & Dennis Duong and Edward Gunara & Jesse Huang will play Eric & Arnold and Mona & Trisna, respectively, right off the start..hehe:crying: *Btw, will you come with your photo gears and take some more pics for us, like last time??..
Pictures of the tournament. Here are some pictures of the Funky Doubles and a short video to come later. Enjoy.
^^Thanks for taking & sharing some pics..^^ ..thanks for doing that for us, Viper2005...Looking fw to more of your pics and video.. *Btw, i saw the Funky Doubles Final match between Eric G./Arnold S. vs. Trisna G./Mona S...Well, it was a pretty fast match w/ the 2 U.S. National members definitely getting there, but not quite there yet. They tried but lost in straight sets. I also noticed some players were still a bit confused, when playing the NSS, even up til the Finals day...
Hmm, hehe, that's true.. ...btw, Daaaaan, where were you??..Viper2005 and I were wondering where you were??..You missed a lot of excitements...Although i wished if coach Alex were playing though, so we could see him and his partner(maybe Chris Ngu) play against Trisna & Mona... Anyways, speaking of the latter names, another fun match was between them vs. Chris Ngu/Joseph Tok in the MD Funky SF. Both the latter tried their best playing against Trisna & Mona but lost in straight sets(21-18, 21-18). One memorable moment occured in the 1st set. They had arguably the best effort point in this whole tournament, as i believe i saw the longest rally during this tournament. During that exchange, Trisna & Mona kept hitting mostly to Joseph, clearing, lobbing, smashing & dropping and, miraculously, he was retrieving those shots. It went on for nearly 5 minutes, people were on their seat, oooh-ing and aaah-ing after every saved/defense attempts by both Chris & Joseph. At then end, Mona hit it out after a smash and afterwards she just collapsed on the court. Everyone clapped their hands in sincere appreciation. It was truly sheer fun and entertaining. 2 thumbs up for both pairs. The B XD Final was pretty entertaininig as Grace & Robert Kuah played against Ronald S. & Priscilla L. They gave a good attempt, but just lost in 2 close sets(21-19, 21-19). I thought the young Priscilla played quite well in front against Grace, quite consistent and able to hold her ground. Ronald played efficient, although, IMO, his backhand is a bit suspect..
My brother just purchased a new house in Arcadia and I was there helping him build furniture. I'm sure I'll hear all about the tournament tomorrow during The Pot. Congrats to all those who participated!
Okay... ..well, for what its worth, hopefully our Viper2005, at least, recorded that particular rally..
Here is a short video of the Funky semi final of Joseph/chris vs grace/johanna. Enjoy! I didn't record the Final cuz I was a line judge, sorry. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NZJ83V0B
^^Thanks for uploading the video..and actually..^^ ...that was the QF match, just before Joseph's & Chris' encounter with Trisna & Mona in one of the Funky Doubles Semifinals ..Btw, did you record that particular SF match..Or anyone else??..It'll be cool if someone recorded that match and uploaded for us to see, esp. that one exciting & "never ending" rally..
i would have to say that was the best run tournament at SGVBC ever, thanks Nathan, Daisy, and the rest of the crew behind the counter to making this an enjoyable event. Most of the matches were on time and sometime even ahead of schedule.
