Hi, I was wondering if there are any particular procedures in cutting a string bed... because of the tension differences...the frame changes shape (a little) until all strings are cut. e.g. do I cut the middle main or middle cross first? thanks
I usually alternate main, then cross, then main again when cutting them. Probably don't want to cut all of one type while leaving the rest as long as your racket is unsupported...
That's what I do too, but I'm still wondering if the main should be cut first or the cross? Middle main first: all the cross will pull the two sides towards the middle; hence increasing stress at the 12 o'clock position. Middle Cross first: Mains will crush the frame vertically; hence stress on the 3 and 9 o'clock postion. I think that the cross should be cut first because, i think that the 12 o'clock position seem to be more fragile and prone to internal damage compared to the 3 and 9 o'clock
i have seen some people who just takes some scissors and just cut it diagonally across both ways. u could try that?
That is the correct way but it must start from dead centre, one cut up alternating with one cut down, and then repeat. This way it is controlled implosion with almost no stress.
well, the key point would be to do it fast, and evenly... I first cut the center main(s) and crosses (1-2 of each) and then do a diagonal cut, and finish the remaing, slightly tensioned ones asap... if your're stringing under 25lbs, there's not much that can go wrong I guess..
So if I understand well, the proper way of cutting the string bed would be to cut diagonally starting from the mid main. the problem is whenever i cut the first main sting, my frame shrinks vertically by about 0.5 - 1.0 cm which seems to be alot. So even if I cut it diaginally wouldn't the problem still be there ? I string at 28/30
Cutting diagonally reuires that each cut be at the main/cross intersection. You should never cut any main string or any cross string alone.
yeah, diagonal. start at one of hte middle intersections, then go diagonally up one to the next intersection. then diagonally down to the next intersection, etc. repeat until you reach clseo enough to the frame. by then, all tension will be gone and you can cut and remove the rest however way you like.
Is It Imp. 2 Cut Da String Bed In A Specific Order ? Coz My Stringer Does It In Neway, He Doesnt Follow Ne Order As Such Plz Hlp !
