    Hi all

Unfortunately, I broke my NS8000 some days ago and now I have to use my MP99 as my main racket. Dun wanna get another NS8000 (though I like it a lot) because it s too fragile. Thinking of getting an AT800De or another MP99 as a spare racket.

But seeing alot of people here, using SOTX, which seems to be more durable than Yonex, I may think of switching to SOTX.

    1. Would anyone here recommend me a Sotx racket similar to MP99, At800de or NS8000?

    2. I heard of the Sotx Woven 8/8a and 9/9a. Are these similar to MP99/At800de or NS8000?

    3. One more thing, where can I buy Sotx rackets in Singapore? Are SOTX cheaper than Yonex in Sing?

    Thank you so much.

A woven 8 is pretty much like a ns8k...it's a tad shorter (5mm,,minimal) and even balanced..and roughly the same weight...
    I'd say it's a safe bet..

the woven 9 is different from the ns8k, or mp99...it's lighter (4u) and headheavier.

though generally, no two rackets are exactly alike..

Thank Jerby, I just wanna know the specs which is similar. I know that no two rackets are alike.

I wanna find a SOTX racket which suits my play style (not a hard hitter, just place the shuttle, attacking clear and defense but want to smash whenever possible, I am not a smash killer). I said I like NS8000 and At800de (quick in defense and drives, precise on net but powerful in smash also) sothat you can imagine my style of playing. I dun look for a sotx exactly the same to NS8k or At800de :)

How about the Woven 12 and 16?

those are defiantly not cheaper than yonex;)
I haven't tried a w16, but the w12 is a lot like a w8...differences are minute...(soem would say the w12 has more 'feel' to it)

my advice: buy a w8. it's not thát expensive, so it's not to bad if it doesn't suit you..you can always sell it here on BC...

any chance some friends of you have a w8/w12?

thanks jerby, I ll try Woven 8. hehe sad to hear that it s not cheaper than Yonex :(. Well as long as it s more durable than Yonex, and as functional as Yonex, I will not regret buying it. Thank you once again.

There is only one retailer in SIN selling SOTX. You can find that out in the Market Place section of this forum. Beware though he does not have too many readily stock in hand, you may need to do your own research on the model you want and ask him to order for you.

SOTX has priced itself comparably with Yonex on their latest and high end rackets. So if you like SOTX high end rackets then you need to prepare to pay similar sum as a Yonex high end.

If you donot mind some of the SOTX older models, then there you may find some bargins. For exmaple, SOTX Woven 8 cost much lesser than the price of a Woven 12.

    Happy shopping!

imho would rate stiffness of woven 8/9 equivalent to at800de. mp99 is stiffest

BTW, It is off the topic, I believed someone asked this before but was not answered, how to pronounce "Sotx", it is SO-TEX or SOX ? I asked one of my German co-worker and he doesn't even know. Anyone ??

From what someone told me before...in Asia it's prounounced 'SO-TEX' and in Germany it's 'SOX'...don't know if that's necessarily right...but that's my two cents :D

I would reccomend for you to try the DiamondFighter 900, or Woven 12.. I thinkg W12 is superior to W8 (I dont know if its higher quality graphite, but it feels extremely solid). I have only tried the w-12ltd (Chineese military-team edition) but I assume the specs are the same of the std W-12 ?!?

    Cheers,
    Twobeer

According to the spec, both Woven 12 and 8 are of the same. The difference recorded is W8 has the woven material on the frame only, while W12 has it both on the shaft and the frame. I have both and I agreed with you that W12 does feel solid than W8 and slightly heavier overall.
