Hi all! I'm new to this forum, so here's a "Hello!" and a short intro. I live in Wellington, NZ and have just gotten back into Badminton again after many many years off! I moved here 8 years ago and have only played 3 times before 2 weeks ago. I've finally found some friends to play with and we're starting up again once a week, but like Kwun said in his article, it's not enough, so Im joining a club here as well and playing with them! Haha! Unfortunately, wife and work and other commitments means that's about the maximum I can commit to Badminton. I just set up a string at 5' high stretching across my garage yesterday, with tape on the ground 6' 6" away on both sides and practiced my short serve! Haha! I've been reading the forums for awhile, and have learnt quite abit already! Look forward to chatting more!
Sounds like you've really gotten into it, I love it when fellow new members share the fanatic love for badminton! Welcome!
Yeah, I started with a shelf that was about the right height and tried to serve onto that shelf everytime. However, there was a fragile Chinese tea set sitting on the next shelf along that I kept hitting!! It was the same tea set used for my wedding tea ceremony as well! Thought the garage would be much better for my marriage.
haha i have put a small "court" in my room as well... i haveit 4m long and i have put a rope straight over the room at 1.5 meters up in the air.. practising my short serve as often as possible
i've done it in my living room. Mastered the serve using mavis 300 tho Had to start over for feather which is harder since feather shuttle is more inconsistent.
I used to pratice serving for the lamp over our dining room table. It was a PH5 lamp, (http://www.louispoulsen.dk/products/product.asp?kmatnr=90293&lang=da&cat=33&LineDraw=1) So if I were good, I could get the shuttle to rest on top of the lamp. If I were good - and lucky, I could get the shuttle to go inside the lamp between the two upper screens. Also the lamp gave a nice DOONNG when I hit it with the shuttle. Great fun - Mum hated it.
Well, hello! I'm not that new nor old...glad to hear that someone really loves badminton! It is really a beautiful game... I love watching and playing though I'm not really good at it... Cheers!
