I'm a very agressive and powerfull player actually. I have a Yonex Muscle Power 100. I usually strung BG-65 on the racquet at 20lbs (sometimes even 18lbs) I'm not an equipment specialist. I just baught the racquet and use the string they put on it at the store. Now, on the yonex web site I see various strings such as BG-68Ti and BG-85. However, I am not even sure to really understand the difference between repulsion and responsive power, what it is exactly ? Any advice ? Thomas Tolendal
22lbs? Hmm, i consider myself to be a power player as well and i use up to 26lbs. Oh well, personal preference i guess........ Oh btw, i use BG-66 strings
If you are indeed a gressive and powerful player, you should try stringing your racket at higher tensions. I strung mine at 25lbs. Anyway if you can get your hands on BG 88Ti, you should try it!! It's the best string IMO but it's really costly! BG 85 will be the next string I will recommend. If you like the BG 65, I suggest that you stay away from BG 68Ti because it's very different!
well he only had it at 20,if he strings at to high of a tension he wouldn't be able to handle it.For me bg-70 pro and bg-80 is the best string.
Hmm, in my opinion string is all personal preference. Rackets can be recommended, but strings........ nah, everyone has their own taste
Very True! I think it is just a trial and error method! Then one last day u will land up with the best string of ur life at the right tension! But then i guess there is nothing wrong in suggesting if u do believe that it could help someone!
thanks everyone, it is true, any given suggestion can help... but the only way to find out : give a try. Perhaps a last word, it appears to surprise most of people here to learn that my racquet is strang at 20lbs or even less. Most rackets here are sold at 22lbs. I never exceeded 24lbs. Strings are everyone's own choice. As for me, I used Yonex strings for a while, BG66 mainly, but at the same time, i also used Gosen HySheep, I just love the sound of the shuttle exploding off the racquet. Nowadays, I am quite happy with my reels that I own now. I have Ashaway Microlegend and Ashaway Rally 22. If I do play a tournament now and then, I put on my Gosen Tec Gut Tour. My 2 cents worth, don't rule out another brand until you have tried.
Just a little observation... The International Pro's use BG65. The reason for this is because they do not require extra "control" "repulsion" They just need a durable string that will last them for the duration of the tourament, that will stretch to very high tensions. The other strings people recommend are merely preferences, and they ask you to try them out. Like with racquets each one has their good, and bad points. However I would think if you need to work on your skills, it is worth while to invest in a more expensive string, to aid you in your skill development.
most A and above players don't really concern about type of string as their power and control is so good. I just played a A player last night double and single. His smash is so hard against us B players it's not funny. I know this person and he let me see his racket inventory in his bag. It is all non-expensive racket, mostly mid end pro ace and forza. His string is something even worst, strung at soggy 18 -19 lbs with some cheap nylon string. (not yonex, not ashaway) He only has 19 strings for the cross pattern.
