    Default Pain While Extending Arm

    Rececntly I've noticed a slight increase in pain when I extend my right arm fully like you would when you are about to get blood taken. It's always been there and my family doctor shrugged it off as just normal sore muscles, but it seems like I could be more. Somewhat fits the description of tennis elbow. I'm going to be seeing a specialist and getting x-rays done, but that won't be for another month so I'm curious.

    There is a numbing pain on the inside of the elbow, slightly down towards the forearm whenever I put my arm out. Hurts more if it's palm up. My elbow is also sore when I do the motion, but I don't not hav pain on the outside of my elbow. I hav a tennis elbow brace thing which helps, but I'm not sure if this is just a mental thing, coincidence, etc. So anybody have any idea?

    are you still playing with the pain persisting?

    I had similar symptoms before, but only after having many consecutive weeks of rigorous play & training...

    Then i took a break, and a few days later the pain had subsided.
    Maybe take a break? then go back to see your doctor if the pain persists.

    Well, the pains been around for a while, as long as I can remember actually. I was just always told by my family doctor that i was normal soreness and had never gone to a specialist. I agree that I should see a doctor, but I'm currently 500 miles away not to mention specialist are also hard to get appointments with. I question right now is how serious it is and what I should immediately do.

    I have a chronic pain in my elbows similar to yours, but mine only sparks up when I fall on it or hit something hard. My advive to you is to train your tricep (not to much though), that was the advice I got when I went to physio and it seemed to make it a bit better.

    It's called Golfer's elbow. Pain arises from the medial epicondyle and you'll have soreness going down the forearm. You could get some relieve by icing after training, some stretching, myofascial release, taping, electrotherapy; Have a look at the elbow injury article on my blog http://sportsnmedicine.blogspot.com.

    Thanks for all your advice guys. My friend pointed out today that I wasn't using my body when hitting which was causing more strain on my arm then needed which was probably another reason why the pain was so chronic.

    start doing pushups m8, not deep ones but only short bursts. I had the same problem as you do. It would happen during weeks of intense training. I've been actively training boxing for 3 yrs now, and all those pushups made my arms much stronger. Pushups won't make your arms bulky so don't worry. I don't box all the time, so i can train badminton as hard as i used to without any pain occuring whatsoever.

    The thing is that pushups work your triceps hard. Triceps extends all the way down to your elbow. If you're a weakling i'd say that all those smashes stress your elbow tendons too much. Those movements are quite agressive so that's what happens.

    Strengthen your triceps. Push-ups are the cure my friend

    yes, as the guy above said, try to strengthen your upper body and core as much as possible. i heard pushups make you stiffer and personally i think so too but you should at least have a certain amount of muscle that can sustain your level of play.

    Hey all,

    Two days ago I got my AT 800 OF restrung done. At home, I was trying the racket (with some small swing) and suddenly there was one swing and I felt pain. It seems like because of that specific swing something happened in my arm. It wasn't even a fast smash swing. It was like a high serve swing.
    So, I stopped trying it out and during any normal acrivities I don't feel any pain.

    I went to play yesterday for badminton and I noticed when I try to smash/clear I feel a sharp pain only at the particular point. So, it like everytime I smash i feel the pain. Because of the pain I can't smash/clear, that means I can't play. The pain is not in the shoulder. It is inside my tricep/bicep (little above the Elbow joint and inside the inner arm). I don't know what should I do about it. It doesn't happen when I stretch my arm. It only happenes when my forearm and bicem are in V shape position and I twist my fore arm. If I move it slowly no problem. Even If i move it fast no problem. I feel pain only when I move it very fast, something like smash/clear.

    What should I do?
    - Take rest
    - Go see a massage therapist
    - Go see my family doctor
    - ?????

    hey, i was just about to make a thread about my elbow pain. It seems simliar to yours, but not as bad. It only hurts when i extend my arm fully, and feels a bit pain and sore at the end. However, i can't feel the pain when im playing badminton and doing the strokes. Weird...

    I went to see the doctor. She said it is minor. I need to take rest. The problem is I gave lot of stress to my bicep. After some phsiotherapy, she asked me to rest more and it will fix it itself. I hope so...
